No, but I know what might be on my birthday wishlist. I wonder if the wife would buy something like that for me, or just give me the green light.

It's on Tower's web site too.

$300 for the Tx-R version. A little pricey, but sure looks nice!

That sure looks nice, I wonder if they are using a belt drive type system to raise the tail rotor or if it is another tail motor system.
3 bills....hmmm, it is kind of pricey but I really like the 4 bladed head.

Been waiting to see one for quite a while. Tail rotor appears to have a pitch slider. My guess is shaft driven.

It is shaft driven.. The pitch slider is a smooth as silk.

The TAGS system works VERY well on this heli and its power is very good.

The detail is amazing!

It appears to be HeliMax's version of the Nine Eagles Solo Pro 319.

Some of the internal details can be seen HERE on the Nine Eagles web site. The tail power system seems pretty complex for a model this size and appears to rely on the plastic fuselage for support and alignment. I wouldn't plan on crashing this one too often...

But it looks SO good, I probably won't let a little thing like that stop me!

How does it fly and handle wind? Hard to take apart to replace or change tail bearings and gears? This is tail shaft and manual show alot of gears and bearings.

The Blackhawk is available! Tower shows it "In Stock" for the Tx-R, and "Limited Quantities" for the RTF.

Let the fun begin!

Yea, but when will the Eurocopter be shipping out? That is on preorder and hobby shop in Grand Junction said they should be getting theirs in stock any day now.
I still have not seen a shipping notification on mine yet, but hopefully next week.

I had both in my hand today at ExperienceRC... very nicely done... I stuck with the Blackhawk in celebration of Independence day and the fact of the mechanical tail... I'll be binding it to the DX8 with the AnyLink and see how it goes!

Well that didn't take long. It's going back. Split RX case and motor and drive not engaged when I opened it up. No flights but the detail is nice just not at $300 for a table top model. Maybe the replacement will be better. Tried the AnyLink and that works well at any rate.

Blackhawk down for now.

Ok back in business!! Was a fluke and now replaced with a working unit. Hovered around and the tail is remarkably locked in. This heli really screams too. The model is a touch tail heavy so I'll probably adjust the elevator servo forward to work right.

Not bad for my first Heli Max product! Really stable flight even in breezes today. I still have some items to adjust on my DX8 to get it to fly the way I like but I'm close. Very scale like flights and getting about 5 minutes out of the battery. I need to get more batteries!? The tail holds much better than the Blade 130X and it seems to be holding up pretty well.

Nice packaging and a great flying heli for reference, here are the shots of the heli!

Like I said, I'll have to dig up some of the eFlite CX3 batteries that I have to see if those fit and work with this heli!

It really does look good! Seems you're favorably impressed now that you have a working example.

I have a couple of questions: How does it fly compared to the Blade 130x - I'm talking scale-type flight? Did you use the settings suggested in the manual for your DX8? I downloaded the manual some time ago and programmed the the settings into my DX8, but have no idea if they'll be good, bad, or indifferent.

I've been waiting for the Blackhawk but hoping to read some reviews before taking the plunge. My LHS is supposed to get a shipment this week and I plan to at least take a look at it.

Yeah, right! I'll just be looking...

Thanks,

Don

Like I said before it behaved better out of the box flying wise over my first 130X. There are no direct settings for the DX8 just the DX6i. Note that the DX6i settings are not correct reverse switches for the DX8. The settings are also a litte damped or sluggish over what I'm used to using on my Blade Helis so I'm still making adjustments. It does a good job scale wise flying so it looks impressive flying. I can even drive it around and take off on the working landing gears like the full sized heli does!

FYI an eFlite EFLB0990 battery just fits in it with 800 mAh available. I'll see if this works as it's a 10C battery... too dark to fly now even with the lights on it.

Hi GSPI,

I went to the LHS today, but the Blackhawk he ordered was already sold so I didn't get a chance to check it out in person.

I know the manual settings are for the DX6i, but I thought they might work for my DX8 as well. Would you be willing to upload the .spm file for the setup you're using? I would appreciate having a working setup for a starting point.

Thanks!

Don
