I run the 215 on the tail as well
Speed 0.05 sec/60° @ 7.4V, 0.06 sec/60° @ 6.0V, 0.07 sec/60° @ 4.8V Working Frequence: 1520us/333Hz, 800us-2200us

.05sec at 7.4v, more than fast enough
you need to use an adapter plate like this

http://tarot-rc-heli.com/Servos/450-...OR-PLATE-HENGE

or us a boom mount for it

Good point, I'd forgotten all about that.

I tried an adapter plate (that one). I didn't have good luck, the center of the servo horn was moved, relative to the mounts. Perhaps I just did it wrong, though as I recall, it seemed like that was the only way to install it.

It made my servo horn geometry weird. I had the plastic links on the pushrod unthreaded pretty far, and still couldn't get my servo horn at 90°, while keeping the tail pitch slider where I needed it for Rate mode. The plastic pushrod ends actually started to strip off the pushrod threads, or were at least wobbling around on them (fortunately I noticed in time).

I ordered a Sport CF pushrod from tarot-rc-heli, and used some boom mounts from my SE. Beautiful, never looked back. Servo horn is right at 90, and I can have the plastic pushrod ends screwed on as far as I want, I just shift the boom mount.

If I need to adjust my TT gear mesh, or otherwise move the boom, I no longer have to go through my tail center & endpoints setup again I did shift my CoG back a hair, so I moved the battery forward a little, to compensate.

I am thinking of doing that too. I could then remove the rudder servo tray from the Pro main frame which will free up more space for other electronics.

If you wanted to save about $20 and 15g, you could just run another 215MG on the tail. I'm using one at 6V, I think it works great. It's a tiny bit faster than the 515MG at 6V, though less torque, of course. But it's already about the top-end of torque for micro servos, and more than many 450's have on their tail. The extra torque of the 515 might not really be required? It certainly can't hurt, of course

You can use step-down diodes to lower the voltage for the tail, if required. Apparently different types of diodes have different voltage drops. I've heard 0.9V is a fairly-common drop, IIRC. I bought some recently that claim 1.6V (I needed to get from 6V, to anything under 5V). I believe you can multiples in series if required.
Did you need to adapt the servo mount to accept a micro?
