Thanks Kneedragger!!

WoW.. bet if it where nitro that calmed my nerves it would be okay?

Dang, that is a good beer, I forgot about that one. I don't even need to drink beer to fly, I just smoke some meth and the heli can't keep up!

In all seriousness though, taking some pill isn't really any better than having a beer, society just says so.

I find after a few drinks, I get better in the simulator, things seem to happen more smoothly for me. After a while though it starts to drastically have the opposite effect

I'll fly after a beer o two. Usually when I'm home on a day that ends in Y. L have a beer in afternoon and the. Take my helis down 3 houses to a huge 160 acre hay field and fly. Back home charge batts and another beers the 2 and fly again. Nothing wrong with that. I am not intoxicated. Nor would I fly intoxicated other than maybe the mcpx in the yard. I've had BBQs that friends have wanted me to fly but I had like 4 or 5 and nope. Yes alcohol can take some nervousness out if the equation. The amount tho, is different for everyone. I work a 21 on 21 off schedule I. A dry camp. So when I am home I like to have beer. And if it's a Tuesday. 2pm. It don't matter. It's my time off.
I also live in a little subdivision and I am the last house with occupants. The next houses down the road are vacant and I fly in a huge field with no one around. So please do not get on the beer and helis is bad bandwagon. Drunk and helis no way. But a beer you are not drunk. Moderation is fine. Sometimes when we're camping I'll drink 15 beer a day. Out quadding etc. like a beer a hr during the day like 8 for a 8 hr ride then let loose at camp at night. Not drunk during day at all. A beer a hr your system can process so no big deal

K I'm do e now

I don't see how you all can maintain these habits while getting busted for swiping nitro and selling out for fully charged crack packs.

+1 on practice.
I enjoy flying after 2 beers and it does indeed calm my shakes. I've also learned that taking my time and acquiring my skill over several more flights instead of trying to cram it into 1 has rid them.

Well, you all are speaking about a beer or two. Fine. But how strong those beers are? 3.2%? This can be hardly called a beer. No offence. Here in Poland we currently have Euro 2012 football championship. I went to see one match in the fan zone. According to UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) rules it is allowed to sell beer but it must be 3.2% max. I had 4 x 0.5l (a bit more than US wet pint) of that in an hour time and all I felt was the need to visit WC...

Our local and typical beer is at least 5%. Yesterday I had one - normal beer with 5.6%. Strong ones are 7%+

So I bet that if you get 2 fast our beers it wouldn't be safe to fly a heli while I could have three of yours and still feel nothing. I'm not saying I'm a pro drinker or something. After 2 beers I start to feel a bit dizzy and in that state I wouldn't go flying. As I had experience with 3.2% beer I can say I can have two of it and go flying.

But overall - I'm against having anything that alters my mind while I operate things. After - sure. Before and while - just no.

I don't drink but I find if I smoke a bowl before I fly I am more focused on what I'm doing and can actually do everything much more smoothly. I don't fly around people tho because I'm a little too focused on the heli and not my surroundings.

Tell me more. I'm used to at least 5%. That one sold in fun zone was more like a juice. Smelled like beer, tasted like one but had no power at all.

Condoning illegal activities is against the rules here at HF. And you'll find most of us are anti-drug as well. Please keep it to yourself from now on.

I don't believe any illegal activities we're mentioned or condoned in his post. People smoke lots of things that are very legal!

Pretty sure "smoke a bowl" would be the illegal activity mentioned.....

The "having a few beers before I *fill in the blank*" line is a mental and nothing more.

Maybe he was smoking a bowl of tobacco.

Maybe he was smoking marijuana legally. There are instances in some countries and states where it would not be illegal to smoke a bowl of marijuana.

Maybe he just smoked a bowl of Cheerios.

Bottom line without more information your purely speculating on whether or not the said activity was legal or not.
