I was getting 12 cell set up for my new 600e too. but i am only do sport and mile 3d flying.

do I really need 30c bettery? or 20/30 c should be enought? Since the weight on 20c

bettery is 50g less than 30c. according to HC's spect.

While high 'c' rating packs can produce high amps, they also maintain a higher voltage, under the same load as a lower 'c' rating pack.

Because the voltage remains higher, the amps will be lower, so increasing flight time.

A 30c pack would have a longer life cycle than a 20c pack.

At $55, the Flightmax 3000Mah 40/50c packs with 5c charging can't be beaten.

Ok, got my 12S ESP built - and promised some pics... here they are....

By the way, my 600N has turned into a hangar queen since I have been spoiled on 12cells......

( The align BEC is a temp, as I have the Castle 12cell bec on the way.. CC85HV, will go on the side, in the airflow when I get the new bec in - I will also be changing the 12tooth pinion to a 13 tooth, as it comes down only slightly warm to the touch, and I love the crispness of higher headspeed.. 2150 should work for me... - I love the 520 gyro, and the Align 610 servos work as good as the 8717's that I have on my 600N..!!)

Cheers,

Nice setup, the way I will follow with my 600E. Few questions here,

1.Did you change original main gear (170T, I guess) with something stronger?

2. My T-rex 600 is completely stock ALU version, so a bit old, and I do not know what changed to ESP version. May I need replace something (other then you mentioned) ? Do you advise to replace frames with carbon ones?

3. Anyone know whether this fat scorpion motors fit to the HFE or HFX mainframes?

Regards,

Alp

Nice video and setup. You fly as good as me!!
The best part is the power on tap and how cool everything stays after a flight

Still using the stock main gear, with tight messing, yet to strip the main gear.

Would image you could continue running the stock airframe and just upgrade the power system.

Believe so but haven't had the need to upgrade the frames.

Hi, thanks for watching...I too am using the stock main gear - as for mesh, I just pushed it in snug, then tightned the motor bolts - I usually use a piece of paper for mesh gap, but I didn't with this setup. I was running 2 2650 zippy 30c packs in the vid with a 12 tooth pinion. I have just soldered up 2 3000 mah zippy 40c packs, with a 13 tooth pinion.. hopefully it will wake things up a bit... On my way to the field this afternoon...!!!

I found upgrading from Flightmax 2650Mah 30/40c to Turnigy 3000Mah 30/40c packs increase my head speed by 150rpm on 12T.

Headspeed now peaks at 2150rpm on 12T.

my question is in regard to the frame mod for the Scorp 630 motor. i dremel the frame just like the you guys, but when intall this into the motor mount, the pinion sticking up very high, the curvy part of the pinion is in contact with the gear. Did you cut or shorten the motor shaft some how so that the straight part of the pinion line up the the gear properly? another solution i can think of beside cutting the motor shaft is to bore-out the hole on the pinion so the shaft can slide down a bit more. how did you solve this problem?

Which pinion are you using??

The Mikado 3012 was bored out all the way so the meshing was full adjustable.

i'm using the rhino pinion, the motor shaft can only slide up the pinion untill it hit the top hole.

Sounds similar to the Align pinions that sit on top of the shaft.

Rather than weaken the pinion, it maybe better to cut a little length off the shaft, depending upon how high its sitting.

Default battery selection

I am going to order two of these batteries;

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=9503

do you think they ok by means of size, capacity weight etc? (see below)

Actually I wanted to get 3000mah 40C ones, but they are not in stock, Until I buy 630KV motor and ICE 80 HV ESC (which is not available at the moment I think) I can use these two in parallel, then serial..

Spec.
Minimum Capacity: 3300mAh
Configuration: 6S1P / 22.2v / 6Cell
Constant Discharge: 30C
Peak Discharge (10sec): 40C
Pack Weight: 544g
Pack Size: 137 x 43 x 41mm
Charge Plug: JST-XH
Discharge plug: 4mm Bullet-connector

I was going to go for those 3300's but thought they'd make it nose heavy.

I'm glad I didn't because the two Turnigy 3000Mah 30/40c packs at 1014 grams are spot on, any more would have made it nose heavy.

I would recommend either of these.

Minimum Capacity: 3000mAh @ $49.31

It seems you have selected 3000mah 30C ones, appears logical, changed my list. I am planning to use a zippy receiver pack (2s3p, 2100, 94gr) instead of a BEC.

One more question, I currently have 3x futaba 3152s. (tail is logictech 6100 combo's), Do you think these servos are enough for such a setup, at least for the beginning?

Regards,

Alp

Personally, I changed from the regulator to the CC Pro BEC for the following reasons:-

- One pack connect and fly solution,
- No second receiver pack to monitor,
- Less weight because your not carrying 6 flights worth of receiver/servo charge,
- More efficient as regulator dissipate approximately 20% of the receiver packs charge, the voltage above 6 volts, as heat.

The CC Pro BEC is very reasonably priced and definitely a worthy upgrade. You won't have to worry about low voltage as the esc will go into 'low voltage cut-off' and even at one volt per cell there'll be enough charge for the receiver/servo's.

However, if you do choose to use the Align regulator and a second receiver packs, the additional weight may balance out the 3300's.

SPECS: Speed: .22 sec/60° @ 4.8V
.18 sec/60° @ 6V
Torque: 70 oz-in @ 4.8V
87 oz-in @ 6V
Weight: 1.5oz (41g)
Dimensions: 1.6 x 0.8 x 1.5" (40 x 20 x 38mm)

Due to their low torque and nylon gears, the Align DS610's would be recommendable with double the torque.

●Stall torque:9.6kg.cm(4.8V) 12.0kg.cm(6.0V)
●Motion speed:0.10sec/60°(4.8V) 0.08sec/60°(6.0V)
●Rating voltageC 4.8-6V
●Temperature range:-20°C~+60°C
●Dimension:40.3 x 20.1 x 36mm
●Weight:52.2g
●1520μs standard band

Not sure about the Logictech 6100 combo.

i think the difference is only 30 grams in weight (60g total for 12s set up). if the 3000mah 30c is spot on, the 3300mah may be slightly nose heavy. i have 6 of the 3300 sitting here waiting for my bird to be complete. I'll let you know the result of my CG. If it's indead nose heavy like you said, should i use the receiver pack instead of the BEC pro to balance it out?

The additional weight of the receiver pack would help balance it out but will add to the total flying weight.

Alternatively, you could run the 3300's with CC Pro BEC and move the tail servo down the boom to balance it back out.
