Default Use smaller pinion to raise T-curve?

I have a 700 w 750MX 530kv 12/112 gearing on a helijive 120 and its governor.

I use a spektrum radio. And at 45% throttle on the radio I'm at 1950 headspeed.

Should I drop to a 11T pinion to be able to raise the throttle curve to 60-70% or fly it like it is as long as the motor and esc don't get too hot.

I ask because I'm under the impression that you should run any speed controller close to wide open giving enough gov headroom.

45% throttle is quite low

actually yes -> for your standard operation you should get a smaller pinion in order to bring your throttle curve up.
It would be more efficient even its running OK also with 45% throttle.

However the smaller the motor pinion the more likely you can run risk stripping gear. So be aware of it since you cannot bring it endless down. Sometimes a motor with less kV would be the better answer.

Noted, but being that a 750MX is a standard option for a Trex 700 i am going to try a smaller pinion first before I buy a expensive motor.
