Exclamation Trex 250SE Vs Gaui EP200

Hey guys,

I'm in the mid of a difficult choise, I'll get a Gaui or a trex for my birthday but dont know which one is better...

Would you guys know what is the best one for sport flying?(stock setup...Trex 250se Super combo or Gaui EP200 EX with stock gyro/motor/esc and Maxwell-MDS60HB Digital Servo on ciclic and tail) I accept other options on Gaui(being about the same price of the trex)

If i post in the wrong place, sorry, i'm kind of a new guy here

The Gaui does look like an even match however the 250 se has the 780 gyro which needs a high head speed or you will get lots of tail wag. I can not speak about gyro or servos on the Gaui. Both these little guys are a lot of fun. If you go Align choose combo with out this gyro and add gyro of your choice. This will make for a smoth start. Both these heli must be set up as near to perfect to achieve a fun flight.

Hello Rafakrav
I have both andthey are good however the trex 250 does crash a lot harder due to the extra weight.
I often crashed the Gaui 200 and simply straightened the blades up and flew on but that is not possible with the trex.
I was using a 2 cell Gaui and it was real light, affected more by the wind of course.
trex250 part support is better

I prefer the Gaui.

i'll try the Hobby king gaui(166U$) with Ino lab servos on ciclic and maybe a ds480 with the 401b Gyro(gyro and tail servo seems to work fine for some sport flight)

Thanks guys

I had an Align 250SE and just recently sold it to purchase a Gaui 200. I loved the Align up front but after one crash, I just could not get the tail to stick. There is a ton of play in the tail on the 250SE. I don't currently own a Gaui, YET but I did own a 250 for about 4 months before I sold it. I can't vouch for the Gaui 200, but I can definately say I was dissapointed in the 250SE.

I have both a Trex-250 SE and a Gaui 200 V2 FES. My opinions are:
  • neither are what I would call high-end quality,
  • the Gaui is certainly better built than the trex,
  • both can fly very well - if well assembled and adjusted, in particular swash setup is critical on little birds, no "eyeballing" get a swashplate leveling tool,
  • trex-250 parts are easier to get than gaui-200's, at least for me in Europe,
  • but gaui parts are generally cheaper
  • hobbyking also sells clone trex parts very cheap, if you like them, I don't.
  • putting higher end electronic components will make either heli fly smoother,
  • for a beginner it doesn't really matter, go with the one you like and can get parts for,
  • on the Gaui-200, be sure to upgrade the tail-rotor push-rod to either cf or one with a guide.
That's all. I have not considered the flybarless issues in the above description. Please, no one take offense by what I have said, I am not trying to insult or belittle anyone or any brand, just giving an answer to the thread based on personal experience.
Ciao,
Bob.

I would add:
main shafts
feathering shafts
tail shafts
tail belts
tail blades
main gear

You will probably want multiples of these parts on hand to minimize the chances you will be waiting for parts in the event of a crash.
