On this subject, can anybody speak to these questions and things I've heard?

- V-Blades fly well, but they have an unusual construction (wood-core) that makes the "brittle" in a way that can matter. (What would that be? Explode on a low-rev tip-over landing??)

- Helix are made by VBlades

- Do Helix have the same (wood core) construction as regular V Blades?

Question: Has anybody heard anything (from Nick?) lately about Helix blades coming back in stock. Quite a few weeks ago he mentioned in an email that they were imminent.

I'd love to fly the Helix Nick blades, to go along with my Nick heli and my Nick motor. But they aren't around and I do want to know if there's some downside to consider.

Thanks.
Jim

V-blades *used* to have wood cores which made them stiffer than any other blade made to date. In addition to being stiffer, I found them to be stronger in crashes as well. I have no idea if the current generation of V-blades or Helix use the same construction.

Some people have told me that the older V-blades were actually too stiff and caused them to fly 'poorly'.

I can not comment on any of this since I only ever had them on my 450 but had a good friend who crashed the 690s and 710s a few times.

I currently run the cyclone blades. I love the way they fly.

As far as 710's, I've never done it but I know Team Pilot Tom-Erik Rolfson was using Radix 710 v2's with 110 mm tails. Not sure if he did any mods though to be able to do this. Here is a video with him running the 710's.

Default Which blades for E700

Helix are manufactured by VBlades. I've got about 50 flights on the 693s and love them. Flying around 1750 headspeed and Rail 116s on the tail.

Use the stock plastic inserts or metal washers that come with some blades

The Helix 715mm has a 14mm root as well. I actually like not needing washers. It will make switching back and forth from night blades to day blades easier.

Halo 700 blades here. With 115 instead of 105 tails. Was talked into it so it seems.

We have used several different blades on our e700:

Helix 695
Rail 696
Radix 690 v2

All fly great on the model each needs a slightly different setup/(tweak) to perform at their optimum.
