Default 800mx motor

Hello
I just upgraded my Trex 700 to the 800mx motor with 120 cc esc .
Should I run govorner or fixed endpoints . I'm used to the fixed endpoints
But I here gov mode is better for that motor .

Also for gov mode what's the radio settings for throttle travel in the servo setup . 100 % or leave it set for endpoints as it is already .

I'm am using spectrum dx8

Thanks

Hi,
It depends on what gearing you run. Personally with 800/850mx I'd go with the 160 esc. Those motors use more current, and can burn the esc.
To governor, you set in the cc software gov set rpm. In the head speed boxes below you set the desired 3 head speeds for you idles, and save.
Then in the tx you set
Normal: 0 30 30 30 30
Idle 1: 70 all the way
Idle 2: 100 all the way
That it.

The castle software is really user friendly. If you hover the mouse over the drop box it gives you help.

I didn't mentioned that but you'll need to supply the gearing, the motor poles and kv. The pole count is 10 for your motor, and the kv is 520.
In the gearing just enter the pinion and the main gear tooth count. You also need to tell it you run 44.40v battery. (12s).
There are some videos on YouTube that might help you with setting it.

If you change any of the settings and forget what the defaults were. They have a star next to them.

Try both modes for yourself. There are people that love gov mode and think it works best and other people who think running curves works better. It is best to experiment with both and see which works better for your own flying style. Either mode works very well when properly geared and setup correctly.

I used gov mode and its very nice . I'm running it at 2350 rpm and feels very smooth in the air and lots of power . seems like it could use more rpm but at the rpm I have im getting just over 4 mins on the battery's . Also im using 45 c bats . I'm going to try 65 c soon

2350 is really high. You set that on gov? What gears?

Yeah I went with Kenny ko's settings for the 120 cc esc . It goes really good . I haven't checked it with a rpm gage so it might not even be that fast . I'm also using stock gears .
