Default amps versus c rating

I bought a 308due and love it so far used it for a week so far now I am confused a little....I have 6s batterys 3300 and 4000 my 4000 says I can charge up to 5c max so thought I'd turn my charger up and see what how fast it would charge....now this is where I get confused I been charging a 2.2 amps i thought that was 1c and 2.2 is 2c etc but when i turned it up it was saying 12a was 3c on the display is this right? that's the highest my charger would let me go only because i only using 12v ps.....so can i charge my glacier 4000 45c at 12a 3c on this and someday even jump it up higher if i get a better ps......thanks

For a 3300, a 1C charge is 3.3A.

The 4000 at a 5C charge is 20A.

For the last calculation, you are correct, 3C for the 4000mah battery will be 12A.

Now for the wattages, multiply amps * volts (consider 4.2v/cell for full charge):

For your highest charge rate:
6s*4.2=25.2V @ 20A = 500w

Not sure what power supply you have, or the wattage for the 308 on 12V, but that will be the maximum. Once you start parallel charging, then you'll need the big watts.

Newbie (or lower) here but here's my understanding.

C rating is battery capacity (AH). So for a 4AH (4000mAH) battery 1C is 4A, 2C is 8A, 3C is 12A and so on.

For a 3.3AH battery 1C=3.3A, 2C 6.6A etc

Hope this helped

If you tell the charger the capacity of the batts it will calculate your charge rate right there on the screen for you.

Powerlab 8 can even use the battery's reaction to current to calculate its capacity. You can set the charger to 1C/2C/etc and it does the rest!

The algorithm is conservative though, and it will be a little slower to charge than calculating the charge rate yourself.

The iCharger 308Duo is a very nice charger. However, you are not realizing the full potential of your 308Duo with that power supply unit.
