Default Servo Adapter Plate

Hi Folks,

My Align T-Rex 450 PRO DFC takes a Mini size servo for the tail. I have a MKS DS95i MICRO servo that I want to fit -- so I'm going to need some kind of adapter plate.

I'm not having any luck finding what I want -- does anyone have a link to something that I can buy?

Many thanks.

Default Re: Servo Adapter Plate

I used the Tarot plate with my DS95 clone. Servo horn center ends up in slightly different spot, pushrod was effectively too short. With adjusters unscrewed enough, they started to pull off.

I moved the servo to the tail boom, much better. Proper servo setup, and no tail setup required if I adjust my tail gear mesh.

Thanks for that. I actually ordered one, but I actually use CF push rods that are a fraction short anyway (I have them unscrewed as far as i dare already).

I might have to make one myself -- will see how it works out.

I've boom mounted mine now too since putting the DS95i on, makes changing TT gears a bit better.I just put some small CF tube over a normal metal pushrod and it's much stiffer than the solid CF pushrods (although probably a little heavier). That allowed me to ditch the guides so no drag on the pushrod anymore.

I had a look at this this morning - it looks to me like the CF Pushrod would have to be a lot shorter due to the further aft servo position???

I had done the grip flip mod on my Pro's tail.

Perhaps I simply had the plate installed wrong. But I think I looked at flipping it around, and decided that wasn't going to work/help, though I don't recall the reason at the moment. If I just goofed the installation, my apologies for bad info.

But I needed my servo horn rotated to move the ball closer to the tail (the horn couldn't be at 90°), and I had the Tarot CF pushrod adjusters extended as far as I dared. They were starting to loosen up (even strip past a thread) in flight, and I *still* needed the servo arm rotated towards the tail.

Once I mounted the servo on the boom, all was right with the world My servo horn was back to 90°, I had the adjusters sufficiently screwed onto the pushrod, and I no longer had to fiddle with the tail setup any time I did something with the boom.

With a longer pushrod, the servo-horn-90° issue would have gone away, at least. But I still prefer having all the tail components mounted to the same rigid piece (tail boom).

I don't know if he's got any left, but another member here had some plates made out of aluminum that work really nice and look great if you go with the Align or KDE aluminum servo mount. Of course it'll cost a little more than a piece of CF.

If interested, you could shoot him a PM and see if he still has any left. He did state on the last page of his thread that when they were gone, he wasn't going to be getting any more made.

Here's his thread and he has pics on page 4.

Thats what I did, mount the servo at the front of the existing mount, had to drill a hole in the front mount for the single center screw. then I made a small tab from aluminum to fill the rear of the mount.

I will try to get a pic up later if needed.

Some good ideas here, I haven't setup my tail servo yet so I'll be looking at the alignment closely

(that's when/if-ever I actually get to finish this build!)

Yep, I'm using a 450 sport pushrod.

Same here, Tarot CF Sport pushrod. Sorry, didn't think to mention that.
