Well I bit the bullet and order me a T-Rex SE. Since it's a pre-order I have to sit here and wait in anticipation. Hopefully it will get her in the next week or two.

Hopefully this will help me get the heli bug back. Been to busy and lazy to take out the nitro birds.l

You can get all the SE parts now from what I understand. It is a blinged out TREX Rob. It is a pretty good cost savings over buying stuff individually. You can get package deals now from TPPacks.com and DeeTee Enterprises that are good deals as well, or you can wait.

The one I got is from RChover. It's going to be 449.95. But Modefo's and TPPacks have some great combo's with upgrades also. I think Modefo's was $360 and TTPacks was $395. I don't know what differentiates the cost's differences. I was going to go that route but just decided to get the SE and hopefully be done with it.

If I like the T-Rex and decide to get a second one, I may go the other routes to save some money or experiment with other brands of upgrades.

Hodges Hobbies also has a few coming in the next week or so. From what I understand, it includes the motor and ESC as well as every metal and carbon upgrade.

They offer a kit with engine/ESC and w/o Engine/ESC. The one with is around $520 I think. I decide to go with the kit and buy my own motor/ESC combo.

FYI guys
there are some new better improved parts on this SE kit that are not yet available separately from align , improved CF Frame with metal BB blocks , improver TR system and CF Tr blades the list goes on ...so if you want the latest wait for the SE !! just a few more days and they will be in!!!

Hey Electric Freaks,

This is going to be my first electric, I've been flying nitro for a couple of years.

I just ordered a TRex 450XL SE from my LHS and I need to know if it comes with the extended boom? or does anyone know if the TRex fits in the carry case with the longer boom installed? I'm also trying to decide if I should put it on my 9Z or my Hi-Tech Eclipse 7 radio, if I go with the 9Z is there a Futaba micro receiver and do you know the part #, I can pick up an electron 6 for the Hi-Tech.

The electron 6 will work with the Futaba as well. You could try the new PCM micro from Futaba. I have not heard anything about it. You WILL get glitches from FM. You just get used to them after a while.

A lot of folks around here are using the new Shadow synthesized receivers. Also, the new JR 610UL receiver is available in both positive and negative shift versions. It's very small and light. 6 channels, FM.

I'm using the new 146i Futaba micro PCM receiver with my 14mz radio and T-Rex 450xl CCPM. Great receiver and no glitches so far.

Which swash plate came apart? SE metal or XL plastic?

Ray...not sure about Mikes...but I had a SE swash come apart on me...got it down in one piece...the center hub only slipped out about 1/8 inch and I lost all my positive pitch...so of just slowly dropped to the ground...

This is still an ongoing problem. Both metal and plastic swashplates are affected. If you can separate it by hand, JB Weld or epoxy it together. If you can't pull it apart, it'll be alright to fly it as is.

Mine was the SE Swash. It was very clean when it came off, it didn't look like there was much holding it to the bearing.

I'll clean it up and put it back together when I get a chance. I checked it prior to flight, but I didn't pull it apart and red loctite it. FWIW, mine didn't come apart when I tried to press it out by hand. My own fault I guess, I knew these things were an issue.

Broke the Landing Gear, plastic base plate, and swash guide. Thankfully I was only about 7 foot off the ground, it didn't even break the blades.

There is a post on RunRyder about using a socket to push the swashplate apart. http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t215186p1/ I couldn't get my get my plastic one apart until I tried this and it came apart really easily. I have no doubt it would have came apart eventually in flight.
