Default FBLRotors Progressive Dampening System - Now available!

Good morning all!

The progressive damping system allows you to fine tune your head damping to suit your style. With 3 different hardness ratings on the O-Rings you can take it from super soft ideal of low RPM F3C type flying, all the way up to super tight, high RPM Smack flight.

Here is a nice diagram of how the system works courtesy of Rob Cherry:

I was fortunate enough to get to play with 2 sets of these over the past week or so. I installed them in my E5 556 and my N7. I have both of my sets setup with Blue, Green, White (From inside out). This setup is slightly softer around center than stock but has plenty of cyclic pop. I have tested this setup on the N7 from 1700 rpm to 2050 rpm, absolutely bobble free, no negative tendencies at all.

If you are looking for a way to fine tune your setup to the 10th degree, this is just for you! You should check them out.

Good stuff Chris!!

I also have a set on my E7SE. I was having some wobble while trying to setup my Ikon. I run a low head speed due to my skill level, and after I got a set, I changed the dampening and the wobble almost went away. I went down one more level on the chart (softer) and all wobble is gone. I'm running 1650, 1750, 1850 currently, and I had the wobble at 1750 with green green white (inside to outside). I changed it to green white white, and it's perfect for me and my flying style. I might even drop all my speeds 100 rpm and see how that is like. I do like having that flexibility with my model, and can change it in a few minutes right on the field.

I like it so well I got another set coming for my E5, so I can stretch it and get it set up properly.

A definite must have if you want to dial things in as much as possible!!

I also had a chance to test them out this weekend on an E5 stretched. I bought this Heli used and the previous owner had Trueblood green in it, I had a bad cyclic wobble at the lower head speeds. It was not that bad on the Rails 606 blades, but I put some Radix 625s on it and it only got worse. I put Ralph's dampening system in (blue, green, green) and wow, what an improvement! Another great innovation from FBLRotors.com!

Did some testing with my E5 this morning. Loving the cyclic feel with this setup!

Nice flight Chris! Man, here in Texas if I were standing out in the sun for an afternoon flight, I would have been ringing wet with sweat by the end of the flight!!!

Im using two blue and a green on my N5c TT and they are Amazing. Its such an awesome Idea you pay for one set of dampers and you get more than 6. I was using the Trueblood greens and switched to these and I love them they are great and there is no reason you wouldn't love them too. You set them up to feel exactly how you want.

Actually Grimmy lowering the head speed is actually opposite of what you want to do if your skill level is low. It makes tuning harder and if its not just right its less stable. You want to run a higher head speed. It makes the heli much more stable and easier to tune.

Yes to some things but from a general point of view and my opinion I would say wrong. I have taught guys to fly on and off for the last (long time) . And there are always different ways to do things and if it works for you great. But nothing makes things tougher than a heli with the cyclic cranked up and a screaming headspeed for a new flyer. Intimidating and way to jumpy. Yes a high headspeed makes it more solid especially with a flybar. But have you flown a 700 size FBL heli that is setup decent with a 1500-1600 headspeed . It is solid and smooth ,no crazy jump if you jab in a bit to much collective and it does not take off like a rocket with a little for or aft cyclic , just nice smooth solid flying and with Synergys speed up tail ratio still a nice solid tail. I just took a fellow with a 450DFC Pro heli that is learning and slowed down the headspeed and smoothed out a few things and his flying improved about 200% in one evening. The other thing is if it does go in the damage is generally a lot less with lower headspeed. This is just the way I do it .

Well I know you can give it higher head speed for stability and then just turn down the dual rates and it wont react so fast to your inputs but it will still be very stable, I guess you would have to lower the pitch also or else it could still take off with heavy collective inputs. On the other hand I can see where you are right as well. If you have a low head speed and have the FBL tuned just right I have seen low head speed birds and flown them and they can be very methodical and smooth. With flybarless technology where it is today there are more than 1000+ ways to skin a cat.

Where would Stock E7SE dampening built today be on this chart?
