Tried a bit of "slow sports" - slower loops and flips - I've always enjoyed watching people do slow 3D much more than smack 3D, but I can't do 3D so "slow sports" it is .... I just love the way that the M-P floats

Didn't feel like learning new stuff today, so I tried some speed runs and big air flying. First time I really pushed the mini to the speed limit. Loads of fun

Put in just 4 packs today. I was really at the field to watch my friends 6hv maiden, which went very well.

I did do my first inverted backwards circuits today. Clockwise only. The wind was quite stiff, but she handles it well. All in all, a great Memorial Day weekend. I clocked 19 hours at the field this weekend!

Today was a big day for me. It might be boring for the better pilots out there, but I actually got 3 packs through and started my first inverted flying. The key for me was to find the right field to fly in (and lots of sim time since my last two crashes). There is an elementary school two blocks away that is out of session now, and has an open gate for citizens. No dogs allowed, so pretty much nobody is there. Highlight for me was a passerby who said "is that even legal?!?" as I finished a big-air flip.

So, my rolls feel very sloppy compared to the sim (real flight with gaui x5). I was adjusting revomix and transmitter tail gain, and I couldn't tell much of an improvement on my adjustments compared to factory (ar7200bx) settings. All dials are centered except for pot 1 which is one click positive. I'm in pro mode on the parameter settings. 100% d/r and no expo. 2500 headspeed. 2800 felt a little better, but i'm still getting unpredictable tail movement during my rolls. It's probably due to my left thumb inadvertently hitting the rudder when i add negative when inverted. Looking forward to dialing in the settings now that the shaky palms are subsiding. Having fun.

What way does the nose move?

Visualize this... During a tail-in right roll, in the middle of the roll (inverted), the nose is facing left at about 10 o'clock. I'm pretty sure this is because as I approach inverted, I am giving negative pitch and my natural thumb movement tickles the rudder left on the stick (right facing nose when inverted) as my thumb moves down for the negative. I need to work on using the bottom of my thumb, not my knuckle, for collective. I don't think it's a problem with the heli.

... pitchmanagement feels very variably flying inverted for the first times... due to the physical and physiogomic basics of stretching or bending the thumb... and sometimes the top-down optimized balance of the heli leads to inbalance when inverted also...

btw - sometimes i guess old-style-steering with finger and thumb would be the better choice - if you learn it from the very beginning

... today in the morning i tested one of the best tx-setups in the last few months supporting the gas-curve with two free mixers (15% gas to cyclic pitch) - better response on the stick movements than any governor would have done that ... i forgot that trick using a governor for a long time...

Where is your revo-mix at? If its too high it can overcompensate for the pitch change.

My setup is +-13* and I have revo-mix on low. High was too much, and off would give me ~40* left nose (w/ torque) tail kicks.

It vary well could be thumb interaction. My right thumb gives me cyclic interaction when doing(attempting) tic-toks. Even a tad when doing rainbows, but since they are slower, I can try to correct it.

low-normal direction seemed to be bit better. What is the difference between normal and reverse direction?

The direction it corrects... its like the normal/reverse gyro direction. Set it wrong and you make the problem worse.

I may be wrong, but it's set to whatever your tail gyro corrects. If the gyro is normal, revo-mix is set to normal. Reverse gyro, reverse Revo.

Got two packs in at lunch and fiddled with revomix. Blue flashing - low reverse - worked best for me. Then I adjusted gyro gain from +28 to +33 (dx7s) and that was even better. I'll try even higher gains next session. I might also tighten my rudder stick too. Thanks for the input guys.

Took my mini out for a spin here in Nashville, TN, in the tiny parking lot yesterday and today.

Was a fairly small area (maybe 100' x 50' ) so I just hovered, figure 8 and some higher flips.

Can't to set her as FBL with the MSH Brain. Why isn't it July 15th yet?

Flying out to Fresno, CA friday. Should be able to get some flying done hopefully saturday in the Arena we're setting into!

Any reason you still have the vbar orientated with the wires out the back?
Sat on the tail is interesting, how heavy are your packs?

No reason really just the way I did it. The reason I put the sat there was because I was getting a bunch of antenna switches on the vbar log so I tried a different location. I think there maybe a problem with my dx8 cause I get them on my 700 too

I just put 3 packs thru...
I had an incident on the 2nd pack, lost power during a pitch pump, it landed on its skids and tipped over last minute as I was full pos pitch, realised I bumped the TH switch, so it was kinda like an auto.
3rd pack went to pitch pumps again and this time it lost power again, I may have 'lent' on the TH switch again, but not sure, this time it was still under power when it hit the ground, but stayed on the skids, but was fairly well buried into the grass.
I went back to the bench, checked it all out, seems fine, will try again...
Didn't see anything obvious in the log
