Default Roban 800 Airwolf questions

1) Is this model up for the task of doing loops and rolls? Not looking to 3D it but (according to the show) it was the first helicopter capable of doing those maneuvers and doing those would be scale.
2) Will Pulse 6s 5000 45c packs fit without issue?
3) Anyone using non scale blades flipped over?
4) Why does this model sound different in the video's?

Hi:

I can't answer the questions about the model but I can answer about the blades. I have Rotor Tech symmetrical blades on my TOW Defender (Little Bird soon) and run them counter clockwise and they work perfectly. Good symmetrical blades will perform exactly the same either direction. I used to use semi-symmetrical blades for scale but no longer but not for the reasons that they don't work, only that they have a tendency to balloon in gusts which hurts your scale flying points. Hope this helps.

Don

1) Yes. The key for any model to successfully loop is speed. With enough speed, the momentum will carry the heli through the loop. You dont want to loose any speed at the top of the loop, and you dont want to square off the bottom of the loop where you suddenly grab a bunch of elevator to level the heli out of the loop. Big loops with smooth, consistent elevator control is what you want. You dont want to have any sudden, sharp or big elevator input - otherwise boom strikes could be possible. I dont know if I would use the stock blades though, they might be a tad too flexible. I've looped and rolled my Roban Cobra using Spin scale (asymmetrical) blades

2) They should. My suggestion is look on the Pulse site to get the dimensions of the packs you want to use and compare that to the dimensions of the battery box in the model.

3) Like Don, I have used symmetrical "3D" blades turned "upside down". They work perfectly fine right side up or upside down.

4) Sorry, not sure I understand your question or what exactly you are looking for.

Hope this helps!

The sound of the model in flight seems noisy. Maybe I'm used to the logo sound. I would say it sounds like gear noise.

My Roban Cobra is noisy relative to other electric heli's as well. It is definitely gear noise. Lots of gear-to-gear drives in the Roban Mechanics. Proper mesh and setup helps reduce the noise a bit, but it will still be "noisier" than a Logo that is all belt driven. My Roban Cobra is very smooth and so far has been pretty much maintenance free.
