Stepdown
Someone of you guys are running a stepdown on your HC500 between the gyro and servo?Iam using a S9257 on the tail with a GY520 (rocks!!).

Almost...I never used a stepdown since now but I heard will be good for the tail servo...why?

i did it because i read it was an inexpensive was to protect the tail servo

Some high speed digital servos, like the Futaba 9254 don't like 6 volts. I run 6 volts to my cyclic so I use the Align regulator for the tail servo. Works great.
Check your tail servo rating before you run 6 volt to it to make sure you can use it or no, then decide. If running 5 volt, it's still not a bad idea to run a regulator to prevent spikes in voltage especially if you are using an internal BEC on you ESC.
