Default New Heli and CP-ll

At age 57 I am too old to do 3D and just want some puttin time in the air. Still trying to get my Trex 450se V2 built. I am hoping this CoPilot will help avoid some of the crashes that will happen once I get real stick time.

Having a ball with my kids flying the s300 and mSR right now. I need to get a sim, I know. Probably get a Pheonix. Hopefully I can put in an hour a day on the sim before I attempt the maiden flight.

I hope i don't get static from anyone for flying with the CP at a field. I will find some experienced flyer near here to check trim and the heli overall after I finish it. Seems like some folks see it as training wheels. OK with me as I will appreciate those "wheels" at the beginning.

Is placement of the CP components a problem to get proper balance of the heli? My Trex 450? I have watched several videos and have read a ton of posts. And I want to thank everyone, Niightflyr, etc for all the time and effort given to those in need of help. Someday I hope I can do the same for a new flier.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and sorry for the long post.

Tom

You should not have any issues installing and balancing out your bird with the CPII,
As to what other pilots say or think ..this is a hobby for enjoyment and if flying with the CPII is going to make it a good experience for you, I would not listen to what others would say about using the CPII.

Build your bird and fly it any way you like, just keep it safe.

The only one you'll need to impress is yourself

I may have to impress the wife to keep funds flowing to this hobby. I all fairness she does have 30-40k invested in her computerized sewing machines That is her love.

My goal is to get good enough to so some basic AP when the time comes. I am thinking that would be fun. Thanks for the reply and encouragement!

Now is the time to always be on your wife good side.

As to doing AP ..450 might be a little small for that, but you can always look to the bigger guns...

Here's my AP rig....also sporting a CPII and dual camera's with wireless downlink

These photos and others I have see here (HF) are real nice. I do understand that a 500 or 600 is more in line with AP and am looking forward to the future!

Thanks again, Tom

I was thinking about going even furthur on the anti-crash features...using the CPII along with training gear to start out. I will make sure there's no one around though to laugh at me. I'd probably order a parachute (and safety net) if I could find them...guess I'm just paranoid about crashing the first few days.

Air Bags, Use Air Bags!!!! Seriously though, 232323, I feel the same way. There are a lot of experienced fliers around here. I will just bring my heli to the field and ask for help and hope I don't get a lot of grief for having the CPll on it. I am hoping someone can trim it all out after checking for newbie mistakes.

Good luck on your future flying. Let us know how it goes with your CPll installed.
