Stuck in a rutt
I have not been in the hobby for awhile but I have been flying on the sim for a month or so now and just cant seem to fly like I used to. I find it real hard to get my skills back and some of the maneuvers that I could do and now that i am struggling to get right. Its just frustrating and cant understand why. How are you guys learning these moves. How many of you had people to train you on how to do the maneuvers.

Sim is not the same as real life. It's close, but not he same. It's normal for fine skills to atrophy. Ones ingrained in muscle memory seem never to go (the ones you could do all day while chatting to fiends). The ones just acquired (ie. "got", but not "mastered") slip away with time and take time to re-establish. I user the sim to train the core of the manoeuvre (with wind on a large heli). Then work to fine tune in real life. I work on making it look right, broad timing, in-move corrections, bailout and transitions.

What are you flying these days? Maybe shopping for and building a new kit would rekindle your interest more than sim practice would.
It's the live flight that is the fun part and gives that adrenalin rush or whatever you call it.
