I know I am WAY late to the party, but here is mine, just got it today, it's under construction now, but I'm tired and need to sleep.

The battery packs are placed about 1cm forward from the back of the tray, so I may try bigger next time (will Turnigy 3600 30C work?).

Futaba BLS272 servos, Xpert 2202T on tail

Savox BSM 4760 530kV

Really pleased with the electronics. The ESC is probably slightly over-rated for my current flight style, but I'd prefer that to under-rated. The Savox motor is performing excellently; plenty enough power so far and quite a bit lighter than the Scorpion 4035.

You may notice how I've installed the reciever antennas on the rear strut. Seems good. According to the logs the telemetry signal is a little weak and drops out sometimes but the control reception is excellent.

Only negatives:
- I've had a couple of issues programming the UniSens-E and MZ-24, but got it working eventually
- The canopy is humongous... I may try the 550 version at some point, even with a 12s battery
- My bird's nest of wires under the battery tray (I may remove the anti-spark since the XT90-S anti-spark is working fine)

Bonus pic
Looks good! It takes some effort to clean up the wiring because of the narrow frame. However the narrow frame makes it robust.

Did some modding on the canopy to accommodate the ESC fan. The ESC was getting really hot with the rising ambient temps. The fan helps cool it down big time.

Done flying by 9 AM before the temps get too hot.

Nice looking boom supports and skids MGC1 I think a set of 620 KBDD blades would match perfectly https://www.amainhobbies.com/kbdd-in...FZNhfgodqAoIrQ

After crashing my Atom 500, my 550U has now become my primary beater/workhorse heli.

I am trying to find out the best receiver placement and your position at the bottom of the frame looks really nice. But how did you get that mounted? It looks like it is a bit below the actual frame on a metal mount?

I used an aluminum plate and just bent it to accommodate the flat of the rx... You can use aluminum from a soda can too although the one I used is hobby aluminum plate which is slightly thicker than soda can aluminum. The plate is attached to the side of the frame using double sided tape and the rx is attached to the plate using double sided tape. Works well and has been through at least two crashes. All that is needed is to bend it back.

Last crash a few weeks ago after the EC5 desoldered while practicing tic tocs in 30C plus temps and the 550U fell from at least 30 feet up with no power:

Only damage were the Chronos CF skids, tail fin, and the main blades. 550U back in the air the next weekend... Here is a pic I took last weekend at the flying field... This is one tough beater.

Thanks for the pictures, although it hurts seeing damaged bird lying on its back! But I am glad the damage was not so bad and you were up in the air quickly!

I think now I found the exact location for one of my two sattelites ;-) I guess I will get a lemon-rx satellite with long antennas as second one and have them go diagonally over and under the boom.

Thanks!

Finally I finished rebuilding the heli. What a beautiful heli, I am really amazed! And compared to my T-Rex 500 it is huge.

I can't wait to maiden it, but just looking at it is fun already!

I love my 6HV Ultimate! What a beautiful machine. And the visibility of the canopy is really good, even with grey sky!

Excellent pic! I also love my 550U and was actually thinking about building a 6HVU to complement it but shelved the plan after learning that the 550U/6HVU were discontinued. The 550U makes for a great beater heli... Fly's really well and can take punishment.

My opinion is that it would have been nice to see both models still in production. Parts are interchangeable between 550U/6HVU and many components are also used in the Chronos like most of the tail assembly parts.
