Its a fireplace, assuming the flue is not blocked there should not be too much smoke in the house...

Castle Creations posted selling roughly 50,000 ESC's in the last month or two....That means there are a few people using them and not posting.
Haven't seen 50,000 active users on here lately. Have you?

[/QUOTE]
They posted 50K HV ESC's in the field (total sales) that would need to be swapped out for ICE2's. They dont have any stock right now so it would be impossible for them to sell 1K in the last month

How many non HV ESC's are out there in use?
The ones for 6S or less?

How many non CC ESC's are out there? 100,000 or more?

There is a very very small % of electric flyers online.
There are tens of thousands or more electric guys you never hear from so if there have been a half dozen lipo fire stories on here in the past couple days, there's probably 100's more we didn't hear about.

And since people persist on using laptops and cell phones to further the myth that lipos are completely harmless if used right...then yes, there are documented cases of lappys and phones bursting into flames as well.

Part of that could be these cheap chargers that are all over the place also. That's one of the reasons I went with my Bantam (BC8DX, Korean made) instead of one of the el cheapo Chinese ones. It's a very smart charger that won't try to do anything goofy to your batteries like try to overcharge a cell or etc.

One of my align 5200's was severely out of balance out of the package, for example. The Bantam worked on it for over 4 hours out in the truck hooked to my Optima, and the hot cell never got above 4.20 until it was all done. But the cells were all 4.20V exactly at the end.

It's only 200W per side, but it does a really meticulous job with the charges, even on my semi-cheapy Align batteries.

So far no troubles with any of my batts...

Its a known fact that bad news is reported online by orders of magnitude more often than good news. If everyone who has never had a problem posted a message, it would flood the board. Internet forums are notorious for making issues seem more widespread than they are. If you take a look at any car forum, you would think that a brand new vehicle has a 50% failure rate. Same thing with the news - watch any of the cable news networks with a narrow world view and you'd think the world is coming to an end any second.

Just bashing the technology is not educating people on how to use them safely. If treated correctly, they are harmless, even more so than lithium-ion. Ask Apple how many of their LiPos have gone up in smoke. They have quality protection technology and they're foolproof. http://www.patentlyapple.com/patentl...e-devices.html For hobby LiPos, the user has to be the protection, and if they fail, there is risk that the lipo will.

They're guesses hence the question mark after or the phrase or more????

Show us the exact numbers and I won't guess.
Are you saying there are fewer than 100,000 electric helis out there?
I figured I was guessing low.

There are millions and millions of people who don't post anything online at all...

Sure, the people online post bad news more than good but the ones who never post online don't just run in the house and register on Helifreak just because they had a problem.

To think that every lipo fire that has ever happened is posted online is naive at best.

I am not bashing lipo tech.
I am bashing the idea that people should keep the problems a secret.

That is CRAZY! What's crazier is that I have those same packs. I keep all my batteries in my fireplace. Do you have a fireplace? I figure, atleast it will isolate a fire. I might lose all my batteries (they are all together in the fireplace) but atleast I won't lose my life or home.Good luck to you. Talk about a wake up call. WOW!

Until now I had no opinion on the word "verbose" but that was because I'd never heard of it.

But now, having read it ,gotten confused and subsequently looking it up on the internet,I like it

C'mon guys....I just don't think it's right that people want to keep lipo fires under wraps and just lay the blame on the users.
The threads encourage people to look into the proper ways to handle them.
Just saying that they did something wrong and shouldn't post about them because it causes undo hysteria is wrong.
People learn from mistakes. Other peoples mistakes even moreso than their own.

That's not too complicated. Is it?

This.is why im not going electric.i dont want 7 lipos burning down my house.ok so millions of people have lipos and no problems but theres a 1% chance it will all blow if its stored all together.with nitro i have three small lipos which is not too bad and its stored safely so if it goes off while im at work it shud hopefully be ok.with 6s lipos ,you will have many of them and will need more storage area which i dont have

We usually keep the flue closed because we never use the fireplace and don't want cool air escaping during the summer, and warm air from escaping during the winter...but yeah, if you decide to keep it open then you don't have to worry about fumes in the house if it self-destructs.
