Maybe its made of a more durable material, otherwise it looks like the same old V2.

I got some in blue. I thought they've been around for awhile. It sure is nice not having to mess around with pressing bearings, just unscrew the section from your old gear and pop it into the new one!

Yeah what's so new? It's been around for along time {I think}. Looks as the same Gear Set I jus bought except it's beep blue. Yeah w00t an WOW you don't need the special auto-rotation gear installer/remover either with this which is listed as an "upgraded" ver. It's only 4 screw and pop in the new bearing ...
This one see look see --> Anyhow I don't see the big deal seems like old news to me also.... |

You'll still need the "special auto-rotation gear installer/remover " if you want to remove the one-way from the main gear case (MGC).
Replacing just the one-way, one time, will pay for the cost of the tool vs. buying the MGC with the one-way included. This is not to say that you can't remove the bearing some other way or make your own tool(s). |

I didn't need a tool when I moved my OWB from this style main gear with stripped teeth to a brand new one.

Bob O.,
What is your preffered method to remove the bearing from the case? |

Who needs to change one way bearings ?!?! I've got about 500 flights and 20 crash on my original V2 main gear and OWB.

To change the Main Gear out YES you don't need to remove the OWB from the anodized aluminum part (part with the 4 screws).... Basically you remove the 4 screws to remove the aluminum OWB Mount from the Main Gear, bearing stays in it's mount. But to change the bearing out of the it's special anodized mount yes it's apparent when ones looks close you do need the special tool to remove it. The idea is to make changing a stripped gear allot easier not to make changing the OWB easy. Checked to confirm and it's true, I can take a photo for anyone who needs. So again sorry my bad to change the OWB you will still need the OWB Removal Tool or however you removed it with the old style Last edited by pwoodyp; 09-10-2009 at 11:30 AM.. |

let me clear this whole thread up on the "new main gear"
the word NEW was only put in by helidirect and them only! [as in new to them] readyheli and rchover have had this part for a long long time and theres nothing new about it. Its a white maingear thats all it has been out for over a year that i know of. do you like dark blue or white. theres no "new" about it. |

Helidirect maybe just copied the text that's on the align taiwan page. They still use NEW in their description.

Yea, same for ReadyHeli.
If you read the part description it says: "-This new main gear is great for the balance. ..." Sounds like the OP may have taken "new" in the wrong context. |
