Whats so special about Henseleit's TDR?
Heard a comment from a youtube vid calling the TDR the" rolls royce of helis" . Besides being manufactured with love and in little quantities what is so special about them? Does it handle differently and how so?

This is the better heli i have flight.
It's awesome, graceful at 1400 rpm, quick and sharp at 1900rpm. TDR flight on rails. After every flight i'm feel happy

"The Rolls Royce of Helicopters" phrase is pretty accurate, although I would probably say Ferrari instead. The manufacturing process is more like that of a Ferrari: very thought-out and highly engineered to give you a very direct, sports oriented flight. It's a very high-end, precise and powerful piece of machinery. The sheer engineering that goes into them is worth the purchase. I had the opportunity to fly one about a month ago and was very well impressed with the qualities of flight and the machine work. Not to mention its such a beautiful machine; likely the most beautiful rc helicopter to date. I haven't seen anything before or after today that rivals the looks of this bird. I also haven't flown anything like it before or since. I've flown faster and more powerful birds, but they didn't compare in quality and gracefulness of flight. Like I said, it was a VERY precise flight. Feels very nice in the hands and does everything you want it to, with relative ease. Aside from price, you won't find many, if any, complaints about the Three Dee Rigid.

What's the difference between a Camaro SS V8 and a Ferrari?
The TDR is the most impressive flying heli I've owned, that's of around 20 helis of al brands and makes, all very well equipped. It's light but not too light, precise, fast, or slow, the rudder feeling is like nothing I ever experiences. It's very simple yet very robust. The torque tube shaft on itself is impressive, delicate but strong. The way you put the tail boom completely assembled into the heli and set crown gear mesh makes me smile every time I do it. The tail fin alone is water mouthing beautiful, a complex combination of curves and counter curves on the inside, pure simplicity yet a delight to look at. You look at a Trex tail fin in comparison and it's grotesque. The main rotor and it's low height looks, the way you put the lipos in place, the neatness of the motor and ESC placement. The absolutely breathtaking design of main and second stage gears, that after shimming are a clockwork of precision. The quality of even the smallest screw and nut. The lightness of the massive canopy. The strength of it's flight envelope, were even a loop is different than on any other heli. Do I need to keep on going?

Sorry for going OT, but as for car comparisons...:
A Porsche 911 : German made, arguably the most reliable car you can buy, very high build quality, made for Autobahn cruisin' at 200+ kph. all day long, but still as easy as mum's Toyota to drive around town. I think Porsche is the best car equivalent for the TDR. Definitely not a red painted, fragile, loudmouth of a posers dream.. Maybe I'm a bit biased... Leave the Ferrarri comparisons for the Goblin camp..

I'm in agreement that Porsche is a good car reference point.
Porsche has made HUGE improvements in reliability. They had the Japanese come over to help them with their production a number of years back and are now near the top of the JD Powers index for initial quality and freedom from defects as well as dependability. Their new liquid cooled motors are reliable and have few problems. They do have high maintenance requirements if you run them hard in terms of brakes and tires, but are otherwise extremely well made. They have topped the list, but for 2012 Lexus managed to squeek by them.

I think every one that has flown a TDR will never even think of comparing it to a Trex 700.
it's in a class of it's own in the heli world. |

I don't agree with all that car crap you guys are mumbling about. Why are you referrencing a boutique heli, arguably at the top of the food chain, with a mass-produced car? I don't see a Ferrari in my TDR. I see a Bugatti Veyron. It's faster than a Ferrari, MUCH more beatiful than a cherry-colored mid-life crisis Ferrari. Pull up to the light in a Veyron and you might have the impression that a TDR makes on folks. But those little Ferrari boys couldn't do it on their own and had to go to another country to do it for them. Doesn't sound like German engineering to me, I don't know.
