Default Rave ENV build questions

Hi, I just bought an electric Rave used that I completely dismantled and putting back together. When I put the two main gears together and into the main shaft, is there nothing that keeps them away from each other? The sleeve that goes through both can slide a bit through the big gear allowing the two gears to touch. Do I need a spacer to keep them separated or did I do something wrong?

I can't wait to get this thing airborne. Hopefully this weekend

There is.

That spacer set is what I use.

Welcome to the family. You will love your ENV, I promise. Feel free to ask any questions. The forum here may be very quiet, but that's because everybody here is flying their machines, not having any issues.

Yes you will enjoy the Rave. I have the nitro and this forum was very helpful in getting mine set-up properly. I keep going over it after every 10 flights, expecting to find something, but nothing it just keeps going and going..Fun and Fun...It does everything well. And it flies very true and precise. Also smacks well...

Thanks for the quick replies. I am going to put the rest of it together before I order parts to make sure I don't need anything else!

Here is my planned setup:

Next D Scorpion 4035-560 w/ 12t pinion - looks like I should get around 2000 rpm
CC ICE2 HV 160 - running 12s
HC-3SX
Ace DS 1015 for cyclic servos
Ace DS 0606 tail servo
Radix 710V2 Blades
Rail 116 Tail blades

I have everything already, but if something throws up a red flag, let me know I know no one has ever used those servos, but they worked very well on another helicopter.

4035 may be a little light for 710 blades. The Rave is in genaral a fairly light 700, but still carries some weight.

However, I ran mine on a 4225 for awhile, and it flew well. So take it with a grain of salt.

I have a Scorpion 4525-560 that I bought used. I am not going to use it. I am building it as a Rave 635 and using a different motor. I will sell it if you are interested. I paid $160.00.

Thanks Freeskiken. That is the reason I got the ICE 160. So I could upgrade in motor if I felt I needed more power! Let me fly it a couple times with the motor I currently have to see how I like it. I will probably buy the motor off you though, because I did want to upgrade at some point. Why not sooner rather than later It can be nice 30th birthday present to myself next month.

I had 4035-560 on my Rave. It works well, IMHO, but I'm not a hard 3D flier.

Sounds good. Thanks

I am sure it will fly fine with the 4035-560. The 4525-560 if you want more power.

Freeskiken, what size bullet connectors do you have on your motor? I need to buy new ones anyway, so I might as well match the motor I will buy off you

Hi, I am really not to sure what they are.

Just use what you like. You can solder new connections on it easily.

I usually use EC5 connections on all my motors, batteries etc. I just use the metal part and shrink wrap on them.

I used DS1015s on my Ballistic 700 and also have a set of them on a Kasama Faifa. They're quite good servos but as you say, they are pretty unknown.

Hey! Nice to hear someone else using them! For their price, they have pretty good specs.

Well, I have it all put back together ready to setup fbl setting and such. Just waiting on the few parts that needed replacing or upgrading before its first flight. Hopefully on Sunday I most definitely like how well all the parts fit on it.

I will have to wait another week it looks like... the spacers I asked about earlier were not in the package they were supposed to come in. Emailed CYH about the mistake today, and they sent it out today. I will have it on Monday in time for another work week... shucks!

So tried for the maiden today before the gusty winds and possible thunderstorms came. I had the tail set up on it the same as every other helicopter I've had. With the pitch slider moving in the opposite direction of the stick input and the correct corrections from the FBL controller. I spooled it up and got the spinning top. That's when I looked at how the tail rotors are connected. Most definitely opposite of the rest of the helis I have ever flown. It has the "front" tail rotor connected to the pitch slider on the bottom side instead of the top. So I guess I will be going into the FBL settings and reversing everything tonight to try again tomorrow!

I was very surprised to see this tail set up differently than others. Or am I missing something.
