Bearings Ever need Lube?

Are you suppose to Lube your bearings? If so, how often and when?

I put a little 3and1 oil on mine every 20 or so flights, a drop on the motor shafts too.

Some do. Some don't. There's a good 'mCPX Maintenance' thread on one of the later pages of the mCPX forum regarding lubing the chassis bearings. I haven't and have not had a problem so far.

Here's liftbag's post on oiling the brushless motor, I think the one in his pic is an HP05 but the C05 should be the same.

I've never oiled mine and haven't had any problems so far. Even with my 450 I found once I started oiling bearings I had to keep oiling them every few flights. Now I don't oil them at all.

Bearings are packed with grease from the factory. Adding any lubricant to them that is thinner than the grease thins the grease, resulting in more frequent lubrication being required.

I grease mine about every 70 or so flights. You can see all the gunk being pushed out and the good stuff going in.

I've found the same thing. I used 3 in 1 oil a few times at the start, but had to frequently oil them after that as it felt like the bearings were picking up extra dirt (or just drying out earlier).

I now use spray white lithium grease on frame bearings and my swashplate bearings. Everything feels MUCH smoother now that I've switched over to white lithium and I don't have to clean them out that often. I fly in a sandy environment, so my bearings get nasty quickly. The spray can white lithium is nice to be able to forceably clean out the bearings.

Another option - replace the bearings with sealed bearings. These are .5mm thicker, but with a slight adjustment to the servo link lengths (or custom-made main shafts) they would work just fine.
