Thumbs up What Did You Do With Your X5 Today??

Seems like most of us use our X5's as daily flyers.

So.... What did you do with your X5 today?

Nothing today, snowing again. Flew the wee out of it yesterday.
The only heli I own that needs nothing but a pre-flight and a charged battery to get going.
Literally, since the completion of the build, aside from the CF control rod upgrade, have done nothing but fly it.

Flew six packs this morning before work. First time I've flown multiple flights after my crash. Everything appears dialed in and flying fine. Ikon should arrive tomorrow, so I'll be busy setting that up for test flights this weekend.

First I mowed my lawn with some noise-cancelling headphones cranked. When finished I promptly grabbed my X5, walked to the farmland in front of my development with no one around and flew while listening to some loud, hard dubstep on Pandora. I have never walked home with a bigger grin. Tic-tocs at about 130BPM are fun

Well, I haven't flown it since Saturday but when I did I ran it for the first time since my maiden on low HS and it was absolutely awesome (it has the red dampers in it too). Still loads of hang and it was really relaxed. I think I'll use this for practicing difficult moves as everything is much slower and you get extra minute of flight time.

Finished wiring up satellites and putting everything back together for the most part. Did some setup on the SK540. Just need to finish soldering battery connectors.

Default First inverted backward

Hi,
No longer today but yesterday, i flew my first backward, inverted circles, in both directions!!!!
Even though shacking like crazy,,,,,,,,, not the heli i mean, but me!!

Still love the X5.
I flew its predecessor, the hurricane 550 as well.
Did some low inverted hovering with it.
The difference between the 2 is huge, makes the X5 seem like unlimited.

Also my X5 took on a full power punchout contest with a brand new trex 550 dfc.
A close match, but the X5 seems to have a bit of an edge.
Then some drag racing against the same 550, X5 won that match!

Have fun j'all

I decided to take some time and add all the extra features to the Vbar this week.
  • Enabled Vbar Gov
  • Enabled Auto Rotation Bail-out
  • Programmed DX8 for Bail-out
  • Enabled freewheeling in Auto Bail-out Mode
  • Wired BT dongle for Vbar
Everything is ready for flying. I am working this weekend but off Mon-Thurs
Can't wait to try the Vbar Gov

Freewheeling? If you refer to the idling mode I would advice against from personal experience, I had a tailboomfailure on my former X50e and had to do an emergencyauto.. broke one of the skids in the landing so it tipped and that idlingmode turned it into a nice chickendance

Today I had a little clean and lube time and treated my grinmachine with some nice new Edge tailblades which will hopefully stop it from blowing out so I can keep practising for first competition of the year next weekend

Langelus

Opps... Yes I think Mikado calls it idling.

I have the Auto bailout on a seperate flight mode. Throttle hold will override the auto bailout /idling. Is this how you did it too?

Nope I had it so that it armed bailout in IU and throttle hold had bailout armed until I changed back to normal and lowstick. But if you have it on a separate switch you cant make the same mistake

I wasn't sure how to program it. I ended up getting some great feedback here https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=523530

In case you want to give it another go.

Nothing, because of the rain.
But yesterday I did my first backward inverted circle.
