Do you think, the brushless conversion kit for the Novus CP would work? It's pretty cheap but the motor has the same diameter.

What about this motor: http://media.hyperion.hk/dn/motor/y12/y12.htm
It comes in 4100, 5300, 5800kv... is it better to go with a faster one? |

Starcruiser, a question for you: in your 5MB picture, the tail ESC is connected to the RX... how does the gyro get connected? I thought the gyro would drive the tail ESC's signal inputs.

I was testing the tail control and playing with mixes at that time.
In the final configuration I have the ESC plugged into the Gyro and the Gyro into the Rx. I am using a MKS-GY-292 Gyro at the moment for initial testing and will try the original then the Detrum or similar gyro. I am trying the 292's since I have 2 in my parts box. I am using the CC 10A ESC in Heli mode and the CC Thunderbird 9A for the tail, was a bit cheaper. I was also thinking of using the HobbyKing $10 ESC's and Turnigy Motors ($10 again), but went for the CC since I have other CC ESC's in my fleet. I would use a higher rather than lower speed BL motor, a 5000KV is a good choice motor top end but make sure you watch the current demands in relation to the ESC capabilities. Also pull the B+ lead on the tail ESC to the gyro to avoid BEC Power Issues. I used the following, as shown above, The MIX settings for a DX6i are; THRO > RUDD ACT RATE L +125% R 0% SW AIL D/R TRIM INH To control the tail motor since the BL setup uses separate ESC's and no on board ESC mixing. M52 has a Mix setup for the DX7, shown above. Good luck and let us know how it works out, the tail is definitely more solid than prior so I am not ruling this setup out yet. Remember you can always roll back to the previous (stock) config if you do not like the BL setup. Using the HK parts you are out $30 +S/H. Some motors are +$30 so it depends on the parts you choose.

Thanks, SC. The parts should come in over the next couple of weeks and I'll see how it goes.

Need help.
Okay purchased a Spartan Quark for my Trexy, 30% off this month, could not pass that up, so I had a good excuse to put my GY48V on my SR with stock tail motor.
Somethings not right she just spins outta control. Tried both DS on and off. (digital servo) Servo reversing is set correctly. Seems I might need to adjust the delay and limits, cannot find a guide anywhere online. I see a lot of 401 gyro setup guides, but not for a direct drive tail motor. =( Maybe the stock ESC/Mixer is messing things up? -_- |

Calling it a night for setting this Gyro up. I'm gonna redue the whole thing tomorrow, check the gain plug to see if I have it in the right end.
I'll try to flip the reverse, kept it the same from my trexy, maybe it needs to be switched up for the SR. Oh and the Spartan is INSANE!!! I thought the GY401V felt solid, the Quark holds like I'm flying in a sim! |

I think the gyro direction switch needs to be flipped the other way.

Probably - I believe the SR tail rotor spins opposite of a Trex.

OMG I can't believe I didn't try to reverse the D/R yesterday. Was too focused on repairing my birds from parts that finally came in. |

Re: Project Blade SR "Pro" - Brushless Tail
I put the GY48V on the SR and it works great.
Thanks M52 for all the settings you posted on this thread and your suggestion of this gyro. John Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm about to get my hands dirty with this - Can someone provide details on programming the ESC. Specifically, do you program one at a time? Or to they both get programmed at once since they're both plugged into the bat at the same time??
Any other details I should know about would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
