the first picture shows where I have the sat mounted...

the second picture shows the vortex mounted inside the frame above where the sat is mounted

the little servo plug on the back is a very short extension where I can plug the vortex pod into without having to get at the unit to plug in,...

Hmm, I have the same motor and it will fry an egg. Must be gearing or airflow on my X3

really.?.....check your gear mesh and make sure it's not too tight...cause I gave a guy at my field my spare motor, and his runs just as cool as mine

also check your timing and pwm

I'm running out....but I'll check my castle settings and let you know what timing and pwm I am running and post them later for you

Mesh is definitely good, running at 2900 and 3200 HS. Could be the longer blades.

Hmm, I'll have to check mine. Sounds like what mine is. Perhaps it's blade length, weight, gearing and/or airflow. The motor works well, just gets hot if it's already a warm day.

Tell ya what.
I have both X3 and 450pro, belted both, I enjoy more the pro than the X3.
More flying time that's why.
Some people comes and tell that they get 4 or 4 1/2 mins of flying time.
Please tell me your set up an I will get the same gear as you.

You are flying the X3 and getting excited when you have to stop at 3 or 3/12 mins at the most.

Yes, I like the X3, but flying time is less.
Same servos and FBL controller on both

2500 HS with 360 blades, and 1400mah Gensace, 6-8 minutes is not a problem. Basic flight though. 4-6 with sport/mild 3D

For what it counts I get about 7 minutes on the 450L, stock motor, stock esc, no governor, head speed at about 3200rpm, 3S, 2200mah 40c gens ace, 11t pinion, landing at 80% used, sport flying.

Governed at 2950 RPM head speed I would get 4 mins. I didn't like the 2950 head speed or the 4 mins flight time ether. The 450 Pro would allow me to have both the higher head speed that I liked and the 5 mins of flying too. So I'm with salrica on this one. The 450 Pro in the pix's I got used and rebuild it and the electronics that was in your X3 is now in that 450 Pro. By the way that's a good looking 450 Pro you got there too!

Here's my fleet... Haven't flown the Hughes in anger yet. Still a relative noob, and prefer gentle circuits... cos I can't do owt else lol. Having fun though, and learning loads with my HK450GT!

Regards

Ian

Here's my primary heli - Tarot 450 PRO V2 with a DFC head and a bunch of aluminum upgrades - metal base, battery, and nose plates, integrated tail unit, dual slider metal tail, etc. Runs an SK3 motor, YEP40A esc, KST 215 cyclic and 515MG tail servos, FrSky D4R-II RX (for taranis) mated with yellow FBL unit....

Final pic is of the current heli fleet - second 450 is a near identical clone to this one (same upgrades) but has a belted tail and runs the TGY clones of the KST servos. Otherwise all same gear.

The 250 is a CopterX clone with a bunch of Align replacement parts and a Robird G31 FBL

mCPx BL is out of commission with a bad main board....
