Tonic-X z20a 980kv Advice Please
Chaps
I've just bought one of these motors and upon inspecting it I notice there is no way of the two parts of the motor being held together other than by the attraction of the magnets. There is no retaining collett or circlip on the shaft and no apparent place for a grub screw to locate onto the shaft. In short, if I pull the two parts of the motor apart they seperate... Is this right or have I bought a lemon?? Cheers Nick |

That's the way they are , I use a trex 450 mainshaft collar above the pinion to make sure it stays together.

Cool thanks wis, I've just finished rooting through my trex 450 spares for a collett off the main shaft and put one on the shaft. I figured it couldn't damage it.....
Thanks for your reply. Cheers Nick Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using Tapatalk 2 |

You could always machine a small groove onto the mainshaft to make a place for an e-clip/circlip.

There is no need for a collar or c-clip. When the motor is running the same force that turns the motor also keeps the parts together, several HP in other words. On certain airplane motors you can easily grab the propeller and pull it (and the rotating motor part) off when idle.
If adding a collar leave some play not to stress the bearing.
