Default New 3D+ in the works

Hello all! I should have my new 3D+ kit very soon and I am getting very excited for it. I was hoping to draw from the collective knowledge available here to ask about what parts are obsolete for this model.

As far as I understand the obsolete parts are:

The frames - no prob as I will make a CAD file when I get them so I can get replacements cut

Clutch - is there a workaround involving the T-rex 600 clutch stack?

Any of the head parts? - I plan on running it flybarred for at least a season or until I destroy the stock head then I will look at fitting the 6HVU FBL head.

Default Well..

Well, I excited too. I just picked up a used K3d (non-plus). Its in great shape, I just hope that their are enough parts out there somewhere to keep it going. It looks like to me some parts are still around, and a few more even for the plus version.

Hobby hangar in NZ. They have 4 more at a steal of a deal. I am hoping to pick up a second kit if they aren't all scooped up.

That's okay by me. I plan on leaving it fb'd for at least its first season. Then it will get the 6HVU head and links and a fbl controller next year.

what exactly does it take to convert to fbl? just the head isnt it? i could just swap back and forth from the 6hv. would just have to pull the jesus bolt and pop the links off to switch over. could even leave the blades on the head

Totally could! I had two full fbl heads left when I parted out tbe 6HV but I sold them when I learned the U had a newly designed head. Didn't forsee the 3d+ coming along. I am going to go fbl with the U head on the 3d+.

you know what else i was thinking, the 3d plus can be stretched just as easily as the old 6hv with odin boom and belt. 7 pound 700 nitro. i wonder if you could stuff a 90 in it lol. not that it would be needed with how light it is. im sure this heli is already one of the floatiest nitros there is as stock though. i might just build one.

Not yet I don't have all the electronics for it yet. I will post when I get everything together. Got a lot of other "real-life" stuff going on right now and no flying weather anyway.

I plan on flying mine until it can't be patched together anymore. It's a real shame that it hot cancelled, but its still the best 50 class nitro I've ever flown by a long shot!

I've heard that from almost everyone that I have talked to that has flown it. I am pretty sure Compass could just start production back up with few, if any, changes and have the best selling .50 nitro out there.
