Default Need some help please!

Hey guys i have a stock protos 500 with ace rc esc, tail servo, gyro, 5s 3700 polyquest, AR7000 rx. I have had the heli for a year now and have been very happy with it, however it from the start has had a intermittent problem which is now permanent! A few seconds into the hover it seems to drop RPM along with a small tail kick, i would land the heli stop the drop the throttle, i would then spool it back up into the hover and would have no problem for the rest of the pack. Last week it would do this but after respooling the heli it would continue hunting etc. I tried to reprogram the esc, no change, changed throttle curve, no change, put in a 18 tooth pinion in case of bearing failure, no change, went through the heli and didnt see anything out of order. So i am left with 2 things that i would suspect. 1 The esc going into some sort of thermal shutdown even though it is not warm to the touch after a 6 min flight. 2 Motor that seems to cog when starting up for a second or so. If anyone has any other opinions of what to check before i replace any of these bits and to let me know where else to look! Thanks!

Do you mean low voltage cutoff? I had it on medium discharge, i have it on light discharge at the moment, but will try heavy today. I am just wondering if say light protection comes in early and heavy later i may have the wrong setting?

Ace rc ESC? Hmm. Never heard of them. Swap in a different esc and see if it helps. Sounds like you are on the right track.

Its a ace rc esc made by thunder tiger 65amp. The thing i have noticed most is that the motor runs pretty hot but the esc quite cool, the other thing i have noticed is that the motor cogs or stalls if you like when i am starting to spool it up. HMM Ye im not sure i will do some more investigating today.
