Flew the Urukay like a bat out of hell again today. Looks like there's a crazy vibe coming from the tail - may be time to balance the assembly on the Dubro (for the second time )

Did my first pyro flips (both halfs) till now I could only do a half pyro flip then I was lost. My friend showed me what to do for the second half on the sim, practiced those last night on the sim and did them first time in real life on the 570 with nasty high head speed so of I crashed it would be a good one !

Wrapping up Urukay build... should maiden this week.

Going over some loose canopy edging and lubing belt when I noticed a small hairline crack on the tail ball link connector. Just saved a few "bucks" on the 700 Comp.
Lucky Me

Ouch. Was this on the goblin urukay? How'd the HW 160 hold up?

Unfortunately

HW appears fine...now. I shattered the fan and broke one of the battery leads that was wrapped around the front of the metal supports. Repaired the wire and already pinged HW America for a replacement fan. I hooked everything up on the bench and all seems to be fine electronically.

One of my battery leads popped off the bullet connector and stupid me didn't confirm that my Ultraguard was working.

I just bought a Goblin Speed for less than it would've been to repair

Optipower has a little doohickey to prevent back EMF if you're worried about it, not the cheapest thing in the world if you need 2.

Both batteries shot forward through the shrink wrap! Luckily they were the "cheap" Turnigy 5000 heavy duties, so not losing too much sleep over those.

My HPS3 head is actually in pretty good shape, so I may convert the Speed to a 3 blader if I get bored.

Got my new (to me) Goblin Speed all set up and put a few successful flights on it. Spent a lot of time yesterday wiring up the main battery leads for a nice clean setup. I'm confident in these solder points (as I was before ) but for extra insurance I've put a daub of epoxy around where the wire/insulation meets the EC5 connector

All the electronics were transplanted from the Urukay but it feels like the head speed is kind of low even with the 24T pinion (bog city actually). Currently running a KDE 455kv motor, but about to pull the trigger on the KDE 535kv and get away with a 22T pinion unless you guys have a different recommendation. I'm all ears!

Time for a 14s upgrade! The 455 is perfect for this and the 14s pulls lower amps, in my case almost 40 less. I had bogging with all my 12s stuff but when I went 14 it was gone. My 4400 65 c packs weigh in just about the same as my old 5000s. No way my packs come loose now using the KDE sliding trays with straps either. Have the crashes to prove it.

Hmm. Decisions.

Edit: well just pulled the trigger on a KDE 535kv motor. I'll hang onto the 455 in case I ever decide to go 14s or soup up a Hoover.
