So i finally got to maiden the Urukay this weekend (2 bladed head) and WOW . I love it. Running on 4000mah 30C packs, i was worried about it, but they held up fine for 4min flights.

The manual calls for allowing the gears to cut in during the first few flights and also says to maiden it at 1550 -1600 HS. They also say that the heli will exhibit some odd behavior during the first few flights. Well, i get this cyclic wobble at maybe 1200 - 1300 HS that dissapears with more HS. Even when auto'ing the heli at the end of the flight under only the blades' inertia when passing through that range of HS, it develops the wobble before coming down. Is this normal?

Yes its normal, you will probably find it gets better after a few flights as the dampers bed in a little. The wobble will move down lower in the RPM range so it will be out of the range you would normally fly, but you might still see it at the end of an auto.

So has anyone been able to mod (or just buy) a precision bell crank for the tail, Lynx or similar? Lynx has no three blade options so I would have to reverse engineer the brass slider portion to attach the three bladed "spider" pitch link.

My tail is fine, but you know.... idle hands

my Uru has close to 100 flights already and still flies like new. had 3 blade strikes and one tail strike with the ground resulting in a couple replacement parts but that's it.

Looks like a battery lead came unsoldered, I was using the BEC on the HobbyWing 160. I was coming out of a pretty fast Cuban 8 and right when I leveled off about 10 feet off the deck the heli became unresponsive, and a split second later it pitched itself forward hard and lawn darted itself. It happened pretty far out in the field, but imagine if it was coming towards me!

Let this be a lesson...I have an Ultraguard on board, but at the end of the previous flight I noticed my electronics didn't stay on when I unplugged the main flight pack. I figured my setup has been trouble free thus far so I'd troubleshoot the UG when I got back home. Famous last words.

Best BEC in the hobby with plenty of guys running it, didn't think I was that far off base. Was previously running a Scott Gray Reactor but that's still a single point of failure. Pick your poison I guess.

Not much to rebuild, all of the salvageable parts fit in a 2x3 inch bin. I've been eyeballing the Goblin Speed for a while so I'm leaning towards that set up for 3D.

I always run a 2S lipo Rx batt with a plug no switch or regulator to power the Rx and use of HV servos on all my big $$$ toys. theres plenty of room and the extra weight is your insurance policy against failure.

Has anybody looked up the parts to convert an Urukay to an Urukay Competition? Canopy+boom and landing skids are the obvious ones. How about main frames and tail side plates? Are those mandotary? I was considering a custom canopy for my Urukay so I might as well do a Competition one...

Cool

safety first when it comes to these big helis, the bullet proof connection from battery to Rx helps me fly with less stress

Looks like Urukay Competition uses new 725mm main blades and 104mm tail blades. It makes more sense to buy the kit.
