The 330 Kv is lower than the Whiplash manual recommended range of 500 to 530Kv. Although the 710mm blades should be fine (690-710mm range), the 95mm tail blade is lower than the manual recommended of 105mm. The manual also recommends 5000mah x2 batteries.

Several more flights on the whiplash today. Sprag gear still locking up. I have removed and oiled twice. It doesn't spin free at all. Even on the bench it catches a lot.

The weight of the bird relative to my other birds is noticeable too. Just doesn't float like I am used to.

I had to remove one of rear frame spacers so I could get the main packs in and out easier. Seems rigid enough. There are three frame braces in the back of this bird. If it needs all three within a square inch then I wonder how rigid the frame actually is.

We shall see how it holds up.

Still not sure if the whippy is a long term member of my fleet. It's such a well built kit. I hate to pass judgement because it isn't like my synergy.

More flights tomorrow. Going to only take the whippy. Try and put 5-6 flights in see if I can settle and adjust.

Please give Jeff miller a call at MA about that sprague setup. I had that too when my kit was new and I was able to get it silky smooth after learning the technique. I am on a phone right now so typing it all down will be painful.

What headspeed are you flying? The whip being a little heavier like the Gaui X7 opens up at about 2200 on 690 blades and 2150 on 710s.

Battery install and removal is a bit of a pain in the rear! I may just flip the bottom plate and put the batteries on that plate lower for easier use. I also though about getting the long configuration stick packs as well to help with COG...anyone using these packs?

Ready heli sells the voltz stick packs. Hyperion makes stick packs.

I Just buy some balance extensions and the appropriate size shrink and make my own. Works well.

I think this is one of the easier helis to change batteries on If you have your wires facing towards the rear of the helicopter it's simple as heck you just loosen the straps then slide in or out. How much easier can it get?

Do you use Velcro on the mount to help hold the batteries? If you do, very little room to drop the batteries off the Velcro and slide them out the back.

Yes I use the Velcro and then when I go to undo the strap I put it in its maximum length where it'll still latch onto itself and I pushed the batteries down then slide right out the back. It's much easier than on my x7, Don't even have to remove the canopy and the batts are well protected inside the frame.

How about instead of Velcro, fixing gel onto the frame and have the batteries contact the gel? I figure when you loosen the straps, the batteries should fall down with gentle pressure in no more that 10 seconds. I still have not started the build, but I am looking for ideas.

I use the whole long strip of Velcro on mine but all you need is a small piece it's just to keep it from sliding back and forth the only thing holding it really are the straps. I don't get it this Heli is so easy to change batteries. You loosen up the straps so they are a loop holding the batts up you pull the batteries down to rest on the straps and slide them out. Same thing going in and make sure your wires are towards the back.

I never said the batteries were ridiculously hard to change. I just said they are harder to change than I thought.

After removing the extra rear frame brace my bulky 65c 5000 packs slide in and out well.

cdsexton,

We should get together sometime and go through your whippy. We have an E7 at our field and I have my Whiplash, both are impressive machines. I also recommend using grease on the sprag, it helps a lot.

Sorry if that sounded negative and there's a rip on you I hate this texting stuff you can't get across your true meaning. My Turnigy Nanotech 5000 45/90 C batteries would only fit in one way. And on my ex seven I have to turn them the other way So I am two sets for each Heli. I'm going to move up to a 14 S set up using the Turnigy 65c 8S 4400 MAH battery with a 6s 65c 4400mah so wjen the 800 conversion comes out i'll be ahead of the game. The reason I'm using an 8S and 6s is so I can put the 8S upfront to counteract the extra weight in the back.

No I didn't think it was a rube. I too hate the loss of tone in text.

I will say I think the X7 batteries are easier to change but that is a personal preference.
