Default Quark perfect! Then severe wag and crash.

Installed a Quark on my mongrel Align 450 flybarred heli. It started life as a 450SA but I have upgraded it to something approximating a 450SE V2. It's my beater that I use for perfecting new maneuvers. Currently working on inverted backward circuits.

Anyway, out of the box the Quark performed great for about 3 flights. Rock solid. Then, during hover it started a severe wag of almost 90 degrees both directions. I landed quickly and found no issues with any part of the heli. Took off again and all was normal as if nothing had happened. Then, a couple flights later, the same thing. A severe wag. This time I piroed left as fast as it would go and that 'solved' it, it was normal. For a couple more flights, that is. Then it happened again and I tried the hard left piro again but the severe wag continued until I crashed.

The tail servo is a cheapy Henge MD922 which has worked well for about 6 months.

Any thoughts?

Maybe the servo can't handle life anymore?

When you upgrade a gyro like that, you should also upgrade the tail servo, IMO.

Hmm. Maybe that's it. Will plug in better servo and see what happens. Thanks, Bob.
