Default align 250 speed controller

align 250 keeps dropping power in flight its seems to be the speed controller.its the stock dfc kit 3gx one its the blue speed controller which is the upgraded one.almost went in today just didn't have any power at full stick thinking of changing the speed controller to 25 amp turnigy with separate bec.

The 3GX can be power hungry, try turning the pots on top down to say 12 o’clock or 10am and see what happens.

The Talon 15 doesn't struggle for power at all, even with a 16t pinion and 4200 and 4500rpm.

I thought it was just the BEC that wasn't great on those Align ESC's, I haven't heard of them lacking in power.

Are your packs ok? Is there any chance its headspeed dropping, or a pack struggling towards the end of the flight?

After reading about the 15s possibly not having enough headroom I opted for the 25s to eliminate the possibility of needing more. That's not to say the 15 wouldn't work for most flights but I have some of the hottest motors for the 250 and I didn't want to risk it (especially since I got the 25s for nearly the same or a bit less than the 15s).

The Talon 15 is plenty good enough to run the T-Rex250, I run the Talon 15 with no problems.

I think the Talon 25 is an overkill. The Talon 25 does weigh about the same as the stock ESC but if you get the Talon 15, you will save at least 10g. That much weight saving, helps the 250 fly better due to the better power to weight ratio.

I run the 25 too. But, I cut down the wires to save weight and where the capacitor is, I cut back the shrink wrap a bit and bent it down slightly (but not to a full 90 degrees - I didn't want to bend it off the esc), This allowed me to mount it under the battery tray, cap towards the motor, and it doesn't stick out in front of the battery.

I'm using the talon gov with a ubrain - so no fbl controller gov - but heck its a 250. I sure miss castle logging, but the ESC works well.

I just picked up a 15 off Ebay for $17 so I'll see how it does next to the 25s. I think eventually I'll start aiming for weight savings but for now I could care less. The 250s fly pretty well for me even if they're on the hefty side.

Maybe I missed it.. Are you loosing all power? Or just power to the motor?

Is the sat flashing solid or off?

Did you find out if it was the esc itself or the internal bec?
