Default Biggest motor that will fit in the X5 Formula

Just curious, what are the biggest motor dimensions that will fit in the Gaui X5 Formula?

4035-500 fits perfectly. At times I wonder if a 750MX would fit...kidding...ok, I have thought about it...

4035-500 has so much power for a small bird like the X5 that I have recently been able to do those mad, stick banging aileron tic tocs as fast as I physically can without the heli moving around or bogging/falling. Totally silly but it's got loads of power if your tail precomp settings and blades can handle the torque!

keep in mind it's just a 500. Bigger is not necessarily better when a smaller motor can give you more than enough power without the added weight

The stock motor does very well for itself. There is a guy who posted a whole thread on RCG about converting to 12S, he has had endless trouble, stripping gears, and balance issues... He stretched it to a X6...

If I were forced to do it, I would use a 4025-560, or better yet get Jmann to rewind one so the KV could be brought down to like 400ish, then you could get a bigger pinion, that might solve the stripping gear issue... That is what Mikado did with their Logo 690SX, they had Scorpion special wind them a lower KV...

I use 4035-500kv for a season but the kv is a bit low for 16t pinion. I will have HS drop toward end of the flight. I tried 4035-630kv. It should work fine with 500-523 blades. but I stretched mine to 550mm main. it does strip the gears in the cold weather. X5 main gears are too thin to handle 4035 higher kv motors and larger main blades.
I end up using 4025-630kv. It had ton of power for 12s 550mm x5.

I have run a 4035-500 for two full years now without even a single gear strip.

I do though run the black gear which is much stronger and also wider than the red gear. It barely even strips in a crash where the red gear was totally ruined.

It doesn't even show wear after 200+ hard flights.

The X5 is awesome on 12S and for me personally far better than 6S as the stock motor was pretty weak IMHO. I was used to a very light 6S 450 before the X5 and with the stock motor it felt very slow and a bit insipid. That 450 had much more punch than my X3 so I was looking for a bit of power to cheaply liven up the X5. The factory 12S setup certainly gave me what I wanted.

I have ran the quantum 560kv 4125

I now run the Savox BSM 5055

If you can get your hands on a Savox do it. Its a handwound motor from teh factory. It's beastly.

Isn't that Savox BSM5055 550 kV (rated at 95 A, 4000 W) too huge of a motor for the X5 ? Does it fit well? I bought the Scorpion III 4035-500 (rated at 84 A, 3500 W) but haven't installed or put it together. Have you tried the Scorpion before? Just wondering.
