Routine lubrication requirements on 700e
I am just curious what I should be lubricating on my 700e. I know that the bearings should be oiled every ten flights or so. What about the gears (main gear, motor pinion, etc)? Should they be lubricated? If so, what should be used on them? I have TriFlow Red Grease and Tri Flow Lubricating Oil. Is this the right stuff?
Thanks! Aram

I like silicon spray for the nylon gears - it does not appear to pick up dirt

Where do you get silicon spray?

Do you use this on all the gears? What is the best way to apply it without it making a huge mess?

I do not. I dab a very small amount of triflow oil into the teeth of the gears, work it in a bit and then wipe off the excess. Mostly it's the tt gears that I'm concerned with, and I only do those maybe once a month if that. I use white lithium grease on the servo gears, maybe once a year if I have them that long. The bearings I hit with triflow maybe once a month. Probably do the same on the shafts. Motor bearings I do most frequently, maybe every dozen flights or so, with Scorpion motor oil.

I like the tefflon that triflow uses, probably because I used it 20 years ago when I was a mechanic for a bicycle messenger service in downtown Seattle.

I would NOT recommend using a tefflon product on ANY one-way bearings though. Tefflon adheres to metal surfaces and prevents friction which is great under normal circumstances but, a one-way needs to grip occasionally. I attributed the failure of a few Logo one-ways to this. Whether or not that caused it, I can't say. But I believe it contributed. I don't have as much experience with the Sprag one-way clutch used in the 700e. I had the same one in my 700n but only disassembled it twice. I only used the Align "one-way bearing grease" in that. I will probably just do the same with the 700e.
