Hi,
I am going to set up a big electric heli, and can't decide between the 550 or the 600...

Right now I fly a 450 on weeknights, and my 600N on the weekends.

I want a 550/600e to fly weeknights....

The things that are attractive about the 550 is the 6s set up and BEC, it seems like hassle free flying? how easy is it to change packs on the 600?

There are no 600e's at my club, so I wonder about 3d/hard sport performance, and what flight times can be excpected?

If anyone could give me some feedback on your 600e's I would be very grateful.

Flight times are not alot different between the 550 or the 600, but the 600 size difference is huge. Get the 600, you wont be sorry. I would say that out of most helis guys buy that they regret and upgrade, it would be the 500/550. You see them all the time in the F/S section as they are dumping them for larger helis. Usually guys getting the smaller ones are concerned about saving money on batteries. Big deal.
I say do it once, do it right, don't look back.

Parts and upgrades for the 600 are inexpensive and plentiful compared to the 550.
You can tune a 600 to be a big old sky Cadillac or a crazy ballistic nutcase.
Saying that, I wouldn't say no if someone gave me a 550.

I own an MCPX, a Blade 450, a Trex 600e, and all the parts for a 600e stretch. I enjoy flying all of them, but they are all suited to different sizes of flying fields. I think something to consider when looking for something to fly is the size of the field you have to fly it on. You didn't mention if your weekday and weekend sites were different, but that's something to keep in mind.

Other than that, you can't go wrong with a 600e on 6s or 12s. My 6s 600e burns through 4000mah of a 5000mah pack in 8 minutes doing sport flying. If you plan to 3D with the 600, then you should build it as a 12s. Also, if you get smitten with the need to go bigger, you can always easily stretch your 600 to a 700, especially if it's already setup for 12s.
