M tells you that it is metric.

I have no idea how to read "M2 5x6mm". The standard format is more like this: M8-1.0 x 20

Here's what the description means…

M = Metric thread designation

8 = Nominal diameter, in millimeters

1.0 = Pitch (distance from thread to thread), in millimeters

20 = Length, in millimeters

Many times the pitch is left off, so seeing a spec like M2x5mm is also fairly common. Perhaps the period is missing and they were trying to say that it was a 2.5 diameter x 6mm long socket screw?

Most M2 screws for helis use the most common pitch, which is 0.4 if I recall, so the main thing us to get the correct length.

There are also different alloys; 12.9 grade with black oxide finish is generally not a bad way to go and not too hard to find in appropriate sizes.

Anyone that has built an Align kit may see the original poster is missing a period "."

M2.5 x 6mm
