Spek 8 bad range
Dumped 3 separate helicopters yesterday, all when they were about 50-75 ft away. Lost signal and augered in. My 130 inverted, full bore right onto the head with enough force to rip the motor off the mount!
Anyway, since it happened on 3 different receivers in succession, with fully charged batteries (transmitter too) I assume its the dx8. What's the best approach to troubleshooting or should I send it out for a check up? |

Did they pass a low power/range test?

Actually, I find that the Blade/Eflite/HH receiver boards in these micros rarely pass a range test. Glad they use a real receiver in the larger birds. But no, I did not conduct a range test before or after. The fact that 3 different helis all lost it at similar range makes me feel it is the radio, not the receiver. I have a DX6 laying about. I plan to program it and try these same birds to prove my theory (well, not the 130, gonna have to change the frame on that one )

So I broke out and programmed a new DX6 that came packaged with my 450. Haven't really used it, plan on giving it to my nephew. Anyway, my 3 year old DX8 drops out at about 15 ft in a range check, while the DX6 is good out about 3-4 times as far when bound to my Bl MCPX. Guess I know where the problem lies. Now what is the best course to take to get it fixed?

Get it sent in for service. They will repair it free of charge. As long as there are no internal modifications.
