Trex 250se 3GX (Fully loaded)

I did a fun (and extremely expensive) experiment. I bought 2 Trex 250SE kits, one I build stock and the other one I squeezed every single after market upgrade available today. This thing ended up costing more than a Trex 700e v2 3GX.

I then went to the field (Central Park great lawn) and tested both helis to see the difference between the two same but very different birds.

Highlights:
1. Not sure if its the Microheli tail assembly upgrade or DKS 95i tail servo but the tail wag that 250 is prominent for is absolutely gone. Huge plus!

2. Weight? Well as you could imagine, this guy is heavy!
310 grams without battery
390 grams spool up weight (with TP 850 65C battery)

3. The biggest difference is the quick response. These servos are increible. Tjey move several steps ahead of the stock servos. I recommend if you are willing to pay up. The only thing is that fitting them into the frame is a head ache. Specially since stock rods need tweaking.

4. Looks? well, see for yourself. I love the orange theme, looks great in the air.

Im glad im not the only one willing to put as much into this as a bigger bird. The only difference from your setup to the one im building is that im using the DS92A+ servos for cyclic and the AR7200BX for less of a mess with the wiring.

The birds look absolutely beautiful though! Enjoy your new machinces

Expensive. DS95 for cyclic are overkill imo but hey! Who says its a bad thing. I particularly like the orange frame. Probably my next buy. But ill get red cause it match my canopy. And i too have the AR7200BX. But i cant fly cause its - 1 000 000 degre out here.

Is there any chance you could list all the upgrades, I'm torn between converting my Trex 250 to FBL and upgrading all/most of the parts or waiting for the Blade 300X.

Mine is pretty close to yours except I couldn't justify what you did with the servos (see attached).....

I think he is talking about the tail grips don't have the Chinese weights built in like the 250SE does. You are using the MH tail assembly which is a completely different animal....I'm actually curious as to how this tail hold up so you will have to let me know.....I've read mixed opinions about the unit when it comes to how long it will last.

I cant tell you how long it will last becasue I only had it for a week. So my answer would have to be "it lasts at least a week".

But I love it. It is as steady as a Trex 700. And the tail wag is gone (not sure if is the MH tail or 95i tail servo (or possibly both).

But I like the tail a lot!

Do you know what is the sweet spot for gain values in 3GX when using with 250?

This weekend I tookj my helis for a long day of flying (car battery fed my TP charger thousands of volt to continually charge my batteries @ field).

And I realized that during very fast forward flight,, the 250 has a bit of tail wag. Other than that, the performance was unbeliabable!

The trick is, and it's often overlooked, you should adjust the 3GX internal gain with the software settings so that your radio's gain is set about 60% of the range.

It's one of those things that is plainly written in one of those hover-over baloon explanations, but most people never see it until they look for it, myself included.

Out of the box, my gain was in the mid 30s and it held OK. Once I adjusted the internal gain so that the radio was up around 60 the tail held much better.

So I need to adjust with 3gx and pc so my heli Flies perfect with a radio gyro gain of 60?

Didn't get the part of ballon hover....

Yes you should set it up with the PC and adjust the gain for best results. The hover over is when you put the mouse over the option, a balloon pops up explaining the feature. I should have explained better.

Where did you get the edge blades? I've looked for edge blades made for a 250 but haven't had much luck

Ready Heli. I got 5 pairs 6 months ago. I believe thay are out of stock. Also, they were not very popular for the 250 so I got a good deal on them.

They are not labeled as "250 blades". You have to go by size

Can you please explain in detail what modifications need to be done to fit these servos? (especially the horn and ball link)
