Default Goblin 700 Gas Conversion

So how many people would be interested in converting a Goblin 700 into a gasoline powered model using a Zenoah RC motor?

At this point I'm told the estimated retail cost of a conversion would be somewhere between $400-500 USD (of course excluding the Goblin and the motor)

I would love to build a Goblin Gasser.

With that said,For that price I would only expect only the best materials and machining.

Will this be coming from a US company or have Good US support?

$4500? IMO no conversion worth more than $350-500.

Edit: I must have seen the price wrong so ignore my original post.

Please do correct me if I am wrong here Carey, but the cost would be in the $400.00 to $500.00 U.S. Dollar price range for the conversion itself.

Correct?

thats the current estimate I was given by the designer although it could be less depending on where the parts are actually made and how many people are interested. Obviously the larger the production runs the less they cost.

there are quite a few custom parts required to make it work. The designer, Joey Chan had posted some early ideas HERE

the initial design was completed and the project is in the prototype phase now. There aren't any flyable yet but I suspect there will be soon.

Hi all,

Yes for the conversion but why not use a PUH motor witch is lighter than the RC style motor?

regards,

Thank you Sir.

Just wanted to make sure the rest of your thread didn't go off course. I also asked for the clarification early on due to the question being asked.

Have a great day, and an even better tomorrow.

If you go to the link Carey posted, it describes some of the design decisions and why he is using the RC version.

Yes PUH is lighter than RC but the PUH engine with fan and fan shroud will be the same weight as RC. More or less.

Question to the designer:
For this price, will all the required parts (except motor and the Goblin of course) be included to the kit?

obviously this doesn't exist as a kit yet but it would be everything but the motor/muffler and the goblin itself

fuel tank looks pretty far from the main shaft.
would like to see it closer to the main shaft to maintain the CG constant as fuel burns off.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but IMO the 600 size Goblin fitted with an OSGT15HZ and 4 blade head with 600 - 620mm blades would be a better path. It would be interesting to compare the resulting disc loading with the electric version. The scale type muffler might even fit within the canopy.

Just my 2c.

Joey is a Goblin fan.................so you may see one of those too!!

down the road though he's focused on getting the 700 flying.

Actually I expect there to be several 600ish class models with GT15 options show up in the next few months

That pic is sweet I set it as my wall paper I wish it was larger though.

I love the looks of the Goblin because it looks more like a real helicopter than all the pod and boom R/C helis. I just do not see a Goblin in my immediate future E or Gas powered although the gas version would be the one I would want.

I hope this conversion works well in the Goblin the further gas helis advance the happier I am.
