Default Nite Rig101 & MS Composit "TAG" Blade Review

Well.... in this set of vids you get too goodies in one

MS Composit sent me a set of their new "Tag" night blades to review. These are pretty cool as they allow you to write text and graphics on your night rig with these rotor blades. Whats really cool is the top of the heli can be different than the bottom of the disk of your heli! To see more check out the review vids

As part of this review I also I decided to do a video on how I set up my Trex450 for night flying! I have been asked for this a lot and just never got around to it. Well now i had a reason to do it Rick Lohr's fins are a must for this in my opinion... Check it out!

First up... How to setup a Night Rig
VIDEO LINK -> Night Rig 101 - Setting up a Night Rig the Easy Way! (49 Megs)

On to the MS Composit "TAG" Night Blade setup and review.
VIDEO LINK -> MS Composit TAG Night Blades - Overview (29 Megs)

VIDEO LINK -> MS Composit TAG Night Blades - Charging the blades (16 Megs)

VIDEO LINK -> MS Composit TAG Night Blades - Programming the blades (58 Megs)

OK thats it for now! I will do a night flying video as soon as I can to show of these kick butt blades! Stay tuned

Here is a older video of my Night Rig flown at the Chula Vista Buzzing the Border Funfly last year. This shows how well a 450 is lit up with the light strings and Ricks Fins. Again I will do a new flying video showing off the TAG blades soon!

VIDEO LINK -> Me night flying my 450 (58 Megs)

Enjoy!
Bob

I sure hope you mean "charging" rather than "charing" in the third video's link! I sure don't want to have to set fire to a set of blades before flying them.

Soooo cool. But I think I need another 100 hours of flight time before I trust myself with blades that expensive....

Non-heli people already think ours is the coolest hobby...this will FREAK people out!

It looks like the LEDs are way too far apart from each other to be able to form a decent image, and yet....

MS COMPOSIT TAG NIGHT BLADES (0 min 37 sec)

I think I need these

And yet another thing to buy. Gotta build me a night bird! Great job as usual on the vids and thanks for the nice words about my fins!

edit: if i would have done my research like a normal person i would have found that they are the align carbon blades

Guess what happens if you give the Spin Box reverse polarity?

I am on my second one now.

Dude... it is clearly labeled on the box how to plug them in! Crap sorry to hear that but BE CAREFUL! It would be cool if they put reverse polarity protection on the spin box but I doubt they will at this point! That box is used for MANY other things like ESCs, etc...

I like the way the blades work. I managed to get them programmed once. Now I get the menu, but the buttons on the JETI box are dead. The buttons work just fine when not connected to the blades. Any ideas?

Nevermind! It works now.

Default Mini Deans?

Bob - Why did you use the mini-deans connector? Is that so you can hook the transformer up to the main pack's balance tab with an ad-hoc adapter?

Here's my current setup, but I'm thinking about using a balance tab adapter to lose the weight of the small lipo pack on the canopy. Can I use any 2 positive leads from the balance tab adapter or should it be specific cells?

Put the negative wire from the glow wire driver to the black wire on the balance tap. count 2 pins over and use the next wire for positive to the glow wire driver.

So I just use 1 pos pin from the balance tap? And when you say count 2 pins over, is that the middle positive pin? Or do I use the two furthest away from the black wire?

Sorry, just don't need to mess this up and cause a meltdown.

Thanks.

The black wire is on the END of the balancer connector so you can only count pins in one direction. Every pin going away from the black wire is positive for a specific cell. 2 pins opver is positive for the 2nd cell thus you get a 2S lipo out of those 2 pins (black and 2 pins over).

Default Worked like a charm

Got Rick's fins in the mail today and finished the job using the balance tab rather than the separate lipo.

Here's the finished product.
