Default My new Pelican transmitter case

My wife got me this Pelican 1400 case for Christmas to use for my transmitter. I just shaped the foam to fit my JR X9503 tonight.

It's not the cleanest foam job I've seen on here, but it will serve its purpose well enough I think. Perhaps I should have gone with the 1450, the 1400 doesn't offer much space for anything but the transmitter.

I have one of these 1400 cases also. Best protection for your radio you can get. I also found it a bit tight and found a 1450 in the classifieds. This is the perfect size for a radio and a few small items off to the side. These cases are indestructible, your going t love it.

Yep, Storm cases are awesome! Funny, Pelican couldn't beat them, so they bought them.

I got mine on ebay for about half the price of a Pelican case and it's just as well made. I have three Pelican cases and the Storm case and I would put my Storm up against my Pelicans any day.

I'll try to post some photos of my Storm case later if folks want to see it.

Have both and like the storm cases better but you really can't go wrong either way. There both top notch cases and are way better then the aluminum ones you get from JR or Futaba for about the same price.

Can you post some pics of your Storm case with the transmitter inside? Thanks!

I just ordered a Pelican 1560 case for carrying my TX, batts and some tools. I have my charger setup in a Pelican 1520 and have a nice toolbox for the nitro heli, which doubles as a heli stand when in the field.

Having everything organized like that makes helis much more convenient. The amount of stuff we need to carry is really incredible.

Heres mine. Its a Plano handgun case from Walmart for $10 and about one hour of careful tracing and cutting.

Thanks. I just found out about the NANUK 915 which is a little bigger than the Pelican 1400 and Storm IM2100. They look really nice. Anyone have any experience with NANUK?

EDIT: If you don't mind the annoyingly bright color, the NANUK is only $55 shipped here and includes the cubed foam (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_763915N....html?tp=36029).

FYI tip:

The easiest tool I've found to cut that type of foam is............drum roll.................an electric turkey cutter!

It cuts it super easy but almost too easy since you can mess it up quick. I got the idea from watching one of the car restro/hot rod shows and an expert was using something simlar to carve custom foam seats.

Here is my Storm iM2100 case. I like it because it's built like a tank and it's not too large, there's just enough additional room for the DX8 charger, my Phoenix cable, neck strap and a few other odds and ends.

I also use the same case. Love it. Plus the price is right!! I have 2 of them, 1 for my dx7 and another for my Ko Propo EURUS car radio.

I see the idea of using an electric knife to cut the foam. The nly reon I hven't done this is that I don't know how to cut the foam, especially the bottom...

Can you all share you cutting techniques? Vids would be very helpful and should find a place in a sticky...
