Default 12s wiring

I'm curious if it is ok to wire the ESC with two male connectors in series instead of using a series adapter (two male connectors to a female connector in series). I will probably go with the later since it seems to be standard. I plan to use a separate 2s rx battery for the electronics so that will not be an issue. The only downsides to the two series connectors I can foresee is that if there is ever a broken connection the hell would lose all power instead of dropping down to 6s. Am I missing something?
