Default 8s Setups

PLss tell me your 8s setup...

I have Scorpion 4020-910 and Jive 80HV...
All are ok.. but i cannot go 2350 RPM because the esc is blinking after landing... THis means overcurrent.. i can till 2300... my e logger writes only 60A max...

YOu with the 8s setups how many rpm to you have??

I use the same motor as you and get 2300ish on average. I use a cheap hobbywing 70HV ESC. I have a couple of hundred flights and all is great. I will be going back to 6s on this heli next year as 8s is just overkill.

I'd send the ESC back to Kontronics. Sounds like something may be wrong with it. They can also be a little finicky and not get along with some motors. Not sure why this is. You may want to send a PM to OICU812. He is a Kontroniks rep and should be able to help you better than me in this situation.

My friend i have done everything...
I have sent it back they sent me a new one and again the same thing... i did a better mesh to the pinion and main gear and again the same.. i resolder my motor bullets and the esc but everything is the same... i dont know what to think..

The 8s is an overkill for sure.. i will try this combo to a logo 600...! might there be the limit of the esc... anf with 600 blades and max 2250 there wont be any problems..!

I honestly think it's a compatibility issue with your motor. Might try sending the motor back for testing. Make sure it isn't defective. If it's not then your Jive simply doesn't like your motor.

Does the heli power stay smooth and consistent during flight?

Yeap the power is smooth and consistent from the start till landing...

this problem of flashing is on 80% on 2350 on 70% 2240 i am ok...!!!
Also i think on 75% its about 2300 its ok again...Might it be the limit of the esc??

If i put it on logo 600 with 600 blades i think it will be ok without problems.!

This combo on a Logo 600 will not work well. A Logo 600 needs at least a 10S set-up, but i have almost the same set-up in my Logo 500 and this just works great !!

Grtz,
Dirk

8s would work great on a 600 size heli like the Logo 600. With the right motor and gearing it would perform fantastic. I really don't see how putting your O550 motor and ESC on a Logo is going to solve the issue your having, if anything it would be worse because it's going to be under a heavier load swinging a bigger blade.

Try putting static guard on your belt if you haven't. All belt driven tail helis can get static build up. It's worth a try even though I don't think this will solve your problem. I'd send the motor back to the dealer for testing or a replacement.

Also if the ESC is working better on lower % then why not put a larger pinion on the motor and run 70%??

Did you contact Shawn (OICU812) about your ESC? He's a Kontronics rep.

First of all THANK YOU you are very helpfull..

Secondly i will be ok with the 600 because my Esc works well on 2300rpm and under....
I have problem on 2300 and over...
When i am on 70% on my 550 there is no problem...

How is it better to put a static guard??? i am new to electrics and i dont know well...
Can you put pics??But what would this do to the overcurrent??

For the esc i have contacted Mr Mel Too... but as i send it to Kontronik and they send me a new one he say that it might be the motor...!

Most if not all belt driven tail helis have static build up on the airframe and this has in the past caused problems with the way an ESC works. Buy graphite spray and apply it to your belt. It's worth a try and it's cheap.

Graphite spray? I haven't heard of that.. wouldn't that be rather dusty and blow off?

I use silicone spray.. spray into cup first.. then brush on. The belts sucks it right in... the rest evaporates so no residue to attract dirt like oil etc.

Or you can ground the boom directly to the batt. neg. with a thin wire.
And you don't have to puzzle about the spraying.
+ You don't have to care the collected dust.

(But first you have to remove the anodizing from the boom where you put the wire. On my bird I put the thin wire under the tail servo clamp.)

No it sticks to the belt rather well. Lasts hundreds of flights.

MaSt0RaS here are the pics.

I know this grounding isn't a nice work. When I did it, it was only a try. It worked and since I didn't hide the cable into the boom and the frame.

Please ignore the cabling of my tail servo too. That's a temporary servo.
