its not the governed head speed that does this. it happens during an over-speed. During an overspeed the OWB unlocks and the pilot can spin up the disk using the collective. much like during an auto rotation. if you do it just right, you can spin the head up to some crazy speeds. like 3000 RPM+. it makes a really cool noise. all the cool kids do it.

turns out that bending bolts is pretty common for 3d pilots. I've bent many more since that original post.

These are the ones I run on my 700:

They are much beefier than the stock ones.

Cheers,
Alastair

those are spindle bolts. I use the lynx spindle bolts too, they work great.

totally different issue, the grip blade bolts do bend. (HN7081 Main Blade Screws Set)

Wow, those FS bolts look much better than the stock ones. Thanks for pointing those out though.

I really like the idea of upgrading those.

lol I do it too. I read half the post and jump to a conclusion.

if you do big over speeds, they will get bent.

just my opinion, but they have to be pretty badly bent to actually cause issues. I think I was trying to fix a blade flutter when I noticed that the bolts were really bent. new bolts fixed it for a while.

Why not just get some metric 12.9 bolts (the strongest you can get) that have an unthreadded shank on them (35mm or longer usually have non threaded section) and then cut them down?

If you bent those you will bend anything that isn't some exotic aerospace stuff.

And I don't think I would trust anything harder (e.g. titanium) as it would likely just break instead of bending.
