Piro problem
No answers on a previous question about the pushrod so I'm thinking about going back to the stock tail servo to see if the helicopter is even flyable. So those of you that need the DS35 that is on back order you may have a chance to get mine. To fix the piro that happens without my input, should I change out the stock tail boom and transmission shaft to see if that fixes things? Can't believe the entire heli will be aftermarket parts to make it work right, should have just bought individual parts and put together my own helicopter. I just need to see why i still get the spin even on a new tail gear. Could the spin motor tear through a gear that fast? If so maybe I should go back to the stock motor.

Piro problem
The plastic C gears round out if you look funny at it. I have had flights were I rounded it out before I finished my battery.
If your helicopter keeps spinning, you can also try to change your tail shaft, a bent tail shaft can cause this too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

ds35 did this to me too! 3 times already on three ds35 servos, went back to stock all good.

Could be setup or like they said, tail gears getting chewed up. Sometimes the poor manufacturing of the TT tips is to blame and will round the gears out prematurely. try stress testing it a little by holding the tail rotor and spin the main blades with gentle pressure. If it slips at all then you definitely need replacement gears.

I just ordered the metal gears and another torque tube that i will put in a new tail boom. I will probably also put the stock servo on to make sure things line up mechanically.

god help you if you crash with the spin 8000kv and all metal gears.
Do you have too much positive pitch on the main blades? If not, you've got a problem somewhere else. The spin is a monster and is very hard on everything. At your level, i'd put the stock motor back on while you get the heli figured out. Get it flying how it's supposed to before you start upgrading stuff. The only thing this heli really "needs" are some orings, metal A gear, and a pitch slider - although it should fly without any of these. Sounds like you need to address the basic issues with this heli - gear mesh, main and tail blade pitch, etc. |

Just getting clarification; what do you mean at my level?
I had the everything stock for a few months and gradually updated things. I wanted a stronger motor because it was bogging on tic tics and hurricanes more so than with my 300x. Just making sure you didn't think I was a beginner, I'm not an XFC pilot but getting pretty good with the tricks I'm doing (Immelmann, half piro flips, vehicle 8's, Cuban 8's, etc)

I understand what 3d is, but I am working on the building blocks of 3d. I am sure you were making the comment to help others in the future, but it did feel like it was directed towards me with the "your level" thing. My collective is pretty good because things fly as they should with my Synergy E5 and 300x and they did when I had a trex 450. But basically I wanted a motor that would run a little smoother and the Spin is doing that for me. But just saying that you made some comments without realizing that most of my practice is on one move at a time. My training is to work on the certain move and execute 1000 times a day for a week on the sim. If it is comfortable then I try it on the real thing, if not, then I keep working. Right now I'm getting all of the different hurricanes really comfortable. Anyhow, not going to discuss my training regimen, but just be careful that you don't make it seem like the person is an idiot. I know you were trying to be helpful, just giving you a heads up of how it was coming off. Anyhow, no more time to discuss this. Just spent over an hour working on the 300x and have some work to get done. I should be fine with the metal gears because I only crash when there is a mechanical glitch. (that was not the case 2 years ago, it was all pilot error!) But I had stripped gears quite a bit when everything was stock. The 130x has a weakness and it is the gears, among other things. I will see how things go with the new gears when they come in and replace the tail boom and torque tube. If that does not fix things, i will go to the stock motor and try that since I am definitely switching to the stock tail servo until I see how things work. I do agree that upgrading without the need is not good. The more you change the manufacture's recommended product, the more issues you will run into. This is my 2nd 130x and I said I would never upgrade it. But things started malfunctioning so I had to.

I had my ds35 all of a sudden piro 180 or even 360 while flying, no inputs from me, turns out servos 3 of them went bad! Less then 10 flights on each too!

Back to making this thread helpful.
So it's possible the ds35 can just crap out? Surprised that so many said the servo helped so much.

I think that if you get a good one then yes, it will help. But the regular linear servos can crap out on you too. The DS35 is probably in its infancy and will have a few bad ones here and there. Once they get the circuitry down they'll either be bullet-proof or someone else will come up with a comparable or better servo and the issues will be a thing of the past.

Oh so this is actually a new servo then? Maybe there will be another servo soon that is comparable or even better. When the frame is realized to use regular cyclic servos I hope a company makes something for that because it would probably sell well.

As far as I know, yes. It's quite new and most likely specifically built for the 130X. It's supposed to be a tail servo specifically anyways and seems to be the only application I've seen it in so far. I don't claim to be any kind of an expert though.
I agree, most likely the demand will create supply for something else or better and competition is *usually* pretty good to have around, but it's pretty tough to beat $20 when the stock one is around the same price and works just fine.

Now I can't even flip the thing. From what I am tell I'm not get if enough tail pitch. Doesn't move very much. Maybe it is the tail slider,i have the lynx one coming in tomorrow or Tuesday and metal gears coming then too. Maybe that will help the Heli out. Afraid to fly because I don't want to screw something up so flying the other helis. Shame that most if the time I'm scared to fly the 130x because of problems.
