It's missing the left Charging platform and a top cover with handle, but it's a start. I'm going for light weight this time.

Very cool. Really like the idea of the MPA's in the lid and fold-out supports - very innovative design. When you going to start manufacturing those ?

My last "adventure" in making a charging tower led me down a path of complexity and very labor intensive construction. I really like my battery caddie, but the charging tower while feature rich is too heavy. I did feel like my back was a lot stronger after IRCHA this year

I'm going for light weight and simplicity this time around. I think this one will be an easy one to provide plans for and let people build themselves. After I'm happy with the first one, I expect to at least build a second unit based on plans. That I'll make available.

I've got a enough RCProPlus connectors coming to switch all my batteries and charging cables over.

Like that you switched to corrugated cardboard, much easier to work with just don't get it wet

It works as well as the cardboard Bump controller, PS, Dual PL8's and MPA boards.

I just need some cardboard helis and I'll be all set!

This will be a much quicker affair. I learned a lot last year.

I'm keeping my existing Charging Tower and not cannibalizing anything from it., so this means all new equipment. The bottom line is that I don't get to go to the field as often as I like and the only real pain point for me is charging time and making the charging tower light enough that I take it to the airfield with me.

I fully expect to have all 6 Chargers in action some mornings. I'll just pull my existing charger into another room on a different circuit so I don't overload my breakers

Looking forward to the next iteration of your charging station, should be another interesting build.

Does the Bump have a feature that shows you the total wattage being consumed by all the connected PL8's ??

It would be a great feature to be able to set a max limit based on whether you are running off a generator or at home.

Since this product will encourage people to run many PL8's blowing breakers or melting wires could become more of an issue.

Yes, you can always see the total input amps and watts for all chargers on the BC, along with the volts/amps/watts of the currently selected charger.

Being able to set limits for all chargers combined will come in a followup software release - likes like around spring 2016. The plan is to also be able to support multiple power supplies too - so you could specify that chargers 1 & 2 are on a separate supply from 3 & 4, with each supply having different power capabilities, and the BC would control the chargers to stay within the corresponding power limits.

Being able to define multiple profiles (like "home" and "generator" above) would make sense too, although not exactly sure what the other variables might be in play ... for example, would there be a third "battery" profile, and these profiles would also control PL settings like regen discharge enable, limits, etc. ... seems useful to me, but would need to think through the details. I'll add it to our feature backlog.

The Bump Controller is starting to sound like a Swiss Army knife, looking forward to the release.

Perfect. I'm pretty comfortable that knowing the watts for all chargers and dividing by the PS efficiency I should be able to keep things safe.

I apologize for this off topic question, but what are those red connectors? Have they worked well for you in a 700 class heli? Are they big enough for 8 AWG wires? Thanks.

Those are PRC6 6mm connectors. 8awg will fit, but not with any room.

They solder easier the EC5's and have worked well in my TDR and the Banshee I used to own.

There is nothing wrong with the PRC6's, but there is no means of inspecting the solder joint.

I'm converting to 6mm RCProPlus connectors for everything except my upcoming TDR-2 where I'm using 7mm RCProPlus, just to be a bit safer with the high current loads I'll be experiencing with speed flying. If I were a smooth flier experienced in speed flying it wouldn't even be a concern for me.

The RCProPlus connectors allow me to easily open the connector and inspect the solder joints at any time, they have a positive lock and they can be reused so while they are pricey they don't need to be tossed when your batteries give up.

+1 on the RCProPlus connectors.
Switched 2 years ago and have not looked at another connector since.
