At first disappointment, then joy
Well, I got my sk installed and setup in my X5. Tried it yesterday and found I had a tail wag. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to stop wagging. No matter the gain or anything. So, I said to heck with it, and reset the Sk back to default basic 3d. Then I went thru the setup again. This time, the part where you center the servo horn, I didn't do it right the first time. I would just click center and never 90 the servo horn. This caused me to shorten my control rod 3 full turns to zero pitch the blades. So after the reset I 90'd the servo horn, lengthened the control rod by 3 turns to get the blades to zero. Viola, no wag. The tail holds awesome. And I must say, the YEP 100 amp ESC, combined with the hobbywing RPM sensor, the gov works great. I still need to adjust the tail a bit, but all I can say is wow. It's so darn stable. Makes the beastx look like it's drunk the sk540 is so stable.
It did take me a bit to understand how to use the banks. But then a friend told me, you select banks, I have a DX8, by using negative numbers in the gyro's. So I got that figured out. I have mine setup so that I can flip between banks by using the F-Mode switch. Normal is Bank 1, IU1 and 2 are Bank 2. Even though both banks have the exact same settings. On a good note, I am only $270 from ordering the X7 kit. So I should be able to do that this month. Rex

I am having a severe case of deja vu. I also came from a bx with a dx8 to sk. It seems we all go through the exact same stuff!
If you don't already have the lcd and are planning on getting more sk's, the you might want to put a little cash away to get a lcd. Like you, I use flight modes to switch banks. With the lcd, you can easily learn the intricacies of a fbl change, parameter by parameter, in seconds. No more sun making the laptop unreadable, no more battery running out while tinkering. I actually enjoy tuning now, and am always tinkering with a new setting, seeing if I can actually notice a difference in each parm. Congrats. |

Can you guys do me a favor? The DX8 banks? Can you please describe this in more detail? I have a new 8 I haven't setup this way yet, And would certainly appreciate more of a complete guide if this isn't too far OT?

I am new to the banks myself. But as I understand it, you can adjust the banks to perform slower, say in Normal mode, and faster in IU modes. Mind you this is all about editing the banks in the software. But if you use a negative number in your gyro settings, both cyclic and rudder, you can switch between banks.
As I said, I have my normal mode using negative numbers for the gyro (Bank1). In IU1 and 2 I use positive numbers, (Bank2) I doubt this helped you, but it's as much as I understand now.
