And regarding adding weight to the tail, just how much more could a tiny part like that add if it was made from aluminum vs plastic? I would guess about the weight of a tiny nut.

It's not just how much it weighs, but also where it is located on the heli. If removing the Chinese weights helps with CG, then adding a heavier part back there won't help.

All that is being discussed in a different thread of course.

Please keep an eye on this part folks.

They're actually testing a few different new compounds for this, including a compound similar to what Mikado uses for their frames.

They won't make it in CNC aluminum because production costs are too high due to the complexity of the part and the weight, I'm told.

Hey BobO,

Guess you didn't get my point/humor. If an aluminum mount weighs more, it also alleviates the need for a nut on the bellcrank screw that most seem to be using. That was what I was getting at.

It is too complex to mass produce at a reasonable cost in CNC. Even if they could be mass produced for a reasonable cost, and even if they were only $20, people still wouldn't be satisfied and would complain that they'd have to pay for them. The idea for the part being made in CNC aluminum hasn't been discarded completely, but it's definitely not the fore runner for this part at this time.

They are testing reinforced carbon-poly compounds.

we are exploring having that part made in an optional aluminum, possibly even having it made in the USA

I hope they keep it plastic or similar material, as I've never to the best of my recollection had a screw back out of plastic. But I have had screws back out of metal.

I do not disagree with bob's statement but for an option for those who want it, we feel it might be a good idea

Did you use Loctite between the aluminum tail center piece and the boom?
See Step 9 from the manual, between parts labeled (1) and (6).

I found another minor issue/ room for improvement today. The threads for the brass tail slider are cut so far that one of the bearings sits on the threaded shaft and has some play. I carefully wicked in enough loctite to fill the threads and the play is gone. Is this part re-purposed from another Compass heli or made just for the Warp/

Cbmb tail boom was broken by the "L" aluminum arm because plastic arm flex.

Sad to hear that, buddy.
Did it crash in the process?

I'll take one too! Maybe even two. The initial tail vib I had has stressed alot of parts in the tail. After replacing the bearings and boom, the tail arm holder broke causing me to go down. New set of edge tail blades and the grips are toast. And that part is currently out of stock.

Hopefully an aluminum part will survive a crash. Let us know Mike! Warp is down until then...

The guide wheel bridge is ready and available, the motor cans are in production but slightly delayed ... the option is to have the parts sent to you that are already available for free, but you pay for the shipping on the parts that are not ready ... OR ... wait for all the parts to be ready and shipped at once for free.
